- Go to WOULD LIFE ON OTHER PLANETS DISPROVE CREATION?
you are probably right about that Kooka
there is biblical evidence for that claim

Okay then
All of you believers who feel that proof of other worldly life would not affect your beliefs at all, do you think you are in the majority or the minority in thinking such?
I would put you all as a minority myself.

yeah i see -- now of course, we should look to this planet first and be sure we don't make it inhabitable.
now of course the point of my son's blog here is that finding forms of life on other planets would tend to say that evolution is in fact a fact of life.
i have to post on this.
or else i would take up oodles of my sons blog here in a comment.
but it is highly likely.
because the stuff of life exists throughout where it is observable -- amino acids and pre-life complex molecular chains
i guess i'll do it in a minute.

that is interesting.
my original theory was based on mankind being sinless and perfect, intellectually vast and without selfish motivations. Very biblical
of course it can be looked at from a secular viewpoint of intellectual evolution, but man retains his flaws thus his politics.

And think of the bureaucracy that would be created to make
trade agreements with the new planet. Think of all the bickering on earth on who should represent us to these other planets.

my theory did not suggest that we conquer other forms of intelligent life. You will notice I mentioned the human potential inventing the technology to make BARREN planets inhabitable. That was the gist of it.
if intelligent life did exist, I am in no way suggesting we conquer them. Instead, we should share and learn.

i have a problem
with this idea that we are commissioned to colonize other planets.
that was what Europeans (it seems) believed upon the discovery of the New World -- that it was the mission of God that they conquer the entire Western Hemisphere at the expense of the indigenous peoples. Now we have an underclass of those people that live mainly in abject poverty.
Europeans have, in the name of God, stolen land, wealth, and taken lives, and still do.
You see? You still haven't addressed the issue of INTELLIGENT LIFE on other planets, the same as peoples in the Americas, Africa and the INdian Sub-continent, as well as Asia and Australia, where Europeans thought it their duty (read exploiting wealth) to conquer.
And if Other Intelligences are encountered? Would we attempt to do to them what we did to all these other people (whom we ignore today except where it profits our corporatons) -- or might that backfire and we would finally come up against a lifeform that we could not conquer; rather, would be able to conquer us.
It is odd that many of our sci-fi relates to other intelligences treating us muck like Europeans have treated the rest of the world.
And how would we address the subject of God once we have encountered other intelligences?

death helps to give life meaning
thats a good point.
basically you believe we are evolving to that higher point of intellectual functioning
I believe we " de-volved" so to speak. But you get it.
if life were discovered on other planets I guess it would not shake my beliefs.
To me it jives with the concept of the creativity of God. Maybe he wanted to try a completely different thing somewhere else.

Well, according to the Bible, life on other planets is definitely possible
and there seem to be refereneces here and there to that, so I don't see the relevance of it disproving anything.

Kooka, It would not disturb my belief in God one bit, It is no different
than finding out a book you read that was based on truth was bias, and maybe did not tell all. It is not up to us to tell God what to do with any other planet, He may be readying another planet because we have got this one in such a mess!!

I have never had a problem with your belief in that. I may disagree due to the biblical links, but as a whole it is a very interesting concept. At some level there are aspects to it that I can agree with , but I see it not as we were meant to, but that we should have gotten to that point by now. I do not believe in the idea of non-death though. For me the fact of death helps to give life meaning, so if no one were to die life would become meaningless.

I think you know my position on this
I believe man was originaally intended to populate the other planets of the solar system because of a non death population. There was not intended to be any death. And man WOULD have had the intellect to invent the tech to make the planets habitable. I believe man was intended to use much, much more of his brain. We are working far beneath our potential. An interesting theory you have to admit even if you reject the premise.
but to answer your question: Its a very good one, Ill have to think about it.
