I almost always end up saying ediots. I know what you mean about proofreading signs. It drives me mad. I can't even order a coffee without spotting the errors on a menu.

I'd forgotten about my fights with the movie screen and tv!

It's worse than I thought, I guess.  When I watch a mystery, I end up saying, "Well, this is what is going to happen, but *this* would be really good."  Like you with the military stuff, I have some law enforcement things like that as I wrote in that field.  I find myself talking to the TV:  "Oh, no, you didn't!"

It's a real double-edged sword with the kids.  I get my daughter's papers for college sent to me to proof.  (She doesn't need my help anymore, sniff.)  My son in high school doesn't want me to see his stuff before he turns it in.  He'll get the A because it's there, but it's as good as he gets most of the time.  He hates me fixing stuff.

The "losing it" comment is interesting to me, as well.  I've always had a real fear that the SAT time was my bar for smarts.  You're in the thick of classes and trying to make everything perfect to get into the right college.  Then it all starts to fall.

hehe... it is not a permanent ailment though. Good grammar can be quickly eliminated. I am living proof of it.

My oldest son cringes, when he watches me at the keyboard. He types over
85 wpm. If I'm lucky, I may type 10wpm.  My boon is not so much in editing words, but in uniform violations. When I watch a military movie, I look for improper insignia, rank and title. It drives people nuts. I guess that's why I watch them alone (LOL)
