: - ) no, it's just one of those weird words

which are frequently misspelled.  "Affianced" is a synonym for "betrothed"; it applies either to male or female.

I'm sorry, amy02, for the confusion.  I should say, "my fiancee."  Funny, I never knew that the word fiance had a feminine counterpart.  How I missed that all these years I have no idea.  I thought it was a unisexual, genderless word.  Huh-oh, showing my ignorance.  Thanks, amy02, for helping me lighten my load (of ignorance, that is).

You met your fiance there? :-)

                fiancé: male
  fiancée: female
  Just wondering.

I was born in hillbilly land. I left that life at age 9, but my relatives still carry on with traditional slang.

Hey, sassyass, I got it from down home.

That there's gen-you-wine hick, with a trace of redneck squalor.  Maybe a touch of white trash.  Grew up around it, saw it, avoided it like the plague.  Still, gotta love the dialect.
