taking an independent view of anything means that the power of those in authority is threatened. truth is not dissension, but a mere acknowledgment of what is so.

when we see truly that others have nothing to do with us, but everything to do with our choices of being, then the what the other is being is irrelevant. a paradox, if you will.

it's easy to point a finger at someone else, but unfortunately we see in others what we don't like to see about ourselves.

As Rumi said...

"I have lived on the lip of insanity, wanting to know reasons, knocking on a door.  It opens.  I've been knocking from the inside."

Wonderful. Now if organized religion could only view...
the cross in the same way. Unfortunately, this view is held by only a few. It might even be called the "esoteric" interpretation.

Avant -
Excellent! That last sentance says it all - when we exclude the least of us we exclude ourselves!

Right on avant-garde
You say it all in this paragraph: "Let us not forget that when we believe someone will save us from ourselves, we are relinquishing responsibility for what we are being. Jesus would never have intended for the things of the mind to be upheld and fought over in His name."
