L.E. Gant,
Your third point first! I have no way of verifying the veracity of that statement but it is in line with the statement of the President of the United States: "The Brown Race cannot Govern Themselves". In history there are a great many of those "utterances" that tend to make my arguments.
I do not know how long you have been studying the history of the American Automotive Industry but "Planned Obsolescence" was part of their business model> Every year in the fall they would roll the latest innovations and styles to the "American Consumer". Quality and durability is most readily associated with the imports: Fact!
Since you mentioned it, not being an "American" sort of disqualifies you from the argument. We will have to deal with that reality later!
"Rednecks" do have a history of "White" rage against the Brown Race! I concede that point without the "rage".

A couple of things: first, I am not an american. But I am white.
Second, until the Japanese started exporting cars to the U.S., american cars were built as solidly as they could be - that's why there were so many old models available for so long. And why second hand cars were so comparatively cheap (kept that way by the dealers, because the profit margin was better on new cars).
third: A while back,I was teaching people of all races about how to run businesses. One day, a brown person came up to me and told me off, for NOT acting superior. "Brown people aremud people," he toldme. "we look to the white man to be superior - not to be our equal."
Fourth: your posting sounds as racist as anything from the southern bible belt (white) red necks!

You-look-fabulous,
Great points! The great sin of the American Auto Industry for much of it's history was "planned absolescence"! They actually built their cars to fall apart. It was not until Imports began to cut into their business did they change the corporate culture. The problem with your scenario: George Bush! Need I say more?

Actually, Glenn ... I believe the real remedy to be architecture. What this country needs is architectural improvement. The beauty and stability of our environs will lend to an overall positive frame of mind in the world. The roads also may need to be kept less hectic in the midst of large populations.
If we can slow down, create safer living conditions and longer lasting products, while fostering the importance of simple pleasures in the daily work life, we as a culture will improve in ways that will positively effect change to the stress instability from which the modern city life tends to suffer.
