Symphony, you're a popular writer on here... THAT counts for something. You're very well liked and you will need that as you network in the business end of writing. Keep at it. We all must. We all do.

Symph,
I saw that you were making the rounds tonight, and it reminded me that I needed to read you again. And toss you a couple of flowers and hearts and smilin' Joes.
Your writing has improved. I have no doubt about that, and I have only been here for just less than four months. You're always pleasant to read, even if your grammar isn't perfect. Hardly anyone's is. Having something that is pleasant for your readers is very important to a writer. Grammar takes a back seat to that. The passion that you speak of is the most inportant thing. That is what will drive you to wade through everything else.
Keep at it. You can do it.

JJ

I suppose people who aren't creative often can't understand the driving urge behind those who are. Then again, I can't understand people who are passionate about numbers, or scientific research...

You keep writing. I seen your first post and I see improvement. Practice makes perfect but could you define 'perfect' What I like others don't like. How can you have a following if you never publish or write anything? Keep producing and going at it. Many are told that they are no good and they proove them all wrong. Star Wars -the movie-everyone considered it to be a bad movie idea and it proved the big wigs wrong.

Sym - I have a passion for writing too. I have been writing since I was about 12 and also want to make my living at it too, though I haven't made much (if any) head way on it yet, but I have not given up yet! Let us stick together. It is too bad you don't get the encouragement you deserve from your mum... you just keep coming here to blogit and we will give it to you.

Symphony,
I think that there's a generation issue between parents and children about what consists "real work". "Real work" is what you do with your hands, for somebody else, for pay. It's a job, where you clock in and out or get paid by the piece, or by the hour. It's material and solid, not like writing, painting or othrr arts. They really don't understand, but it's "real" to us that have that drive.

Symphony...One of the best ways to start the writing process, even if you've not got much free time, is to keep a notebook or two at hand. This way, when you get an idea, you can dash off and jot it down. You, not very good at writing?????.....RUBBISH!!!!...Keep at it, no matter what anyone else thinks or feels. God bless.

Symphony, I found a Mentor,
and he was much more helpful than an editor. Ofcourse, he was an editor too, but as a mentor the feedback wasn't just grammar corrections. I used John Daniel, of Daniel and Daniel Publishing, located in California. You might want to check in your own country, but if you have a hard time John is very helpful. Take care

SYMPHONY,
I think you are a fine writer. As far as grammatical faux pas, isn't that why they pay editors? I have noticed my writing skills steadily improving, not intentionally, but merely by the practice of writing here nearly every day.
Don't let anyone cause you to let go of your dreams. In fact, hold onto your dreams tighter than you hold onto them!

Symphony I know part of what drives you to write is that big heart. It is
hard to come under criticism by those so close to you. Keep saying to yourself under your breath that it is okay. You are doing fine. You will always write. Keep talking positive to yourself when others talk negatively to you. I love to read you. I read two posts today and I am only commenting on one. Don't let people get you down. You are not a Survivor you are a Thriver. You go now and make lemonade out of the lemons you got yesterday.

You do write with passion. Someday you will be a great writer! I think people who can't write their feelings, can't express them, or even talk about them are the one's who tend to have issues. They carry them inside forever. Now that is really sad.
