Flightpath, thank you for the tip. I will look for it tonight. I totally
agree that students' rights are the number one concern, seconded only by safety and security needs.  The one compliments the other.  My class on "Public School Law" has made me very faithful to the needs of safety and security in the buildings, always using what the "reasonable man on the street" would think as my ruler.  Is ist OK to confront harshly when no one is at risk?  I do not think so.  However, as happened to me last year, when two students are holding the fire doors against a near mod exiting the cafeteria, then action is appropriate.  Students' rights tempered by need for security and safety.  That's my rlue every time.  Thanks for your visits and comments.  I feel terrible not being able to reply every day!  This summer I'm going to be on here 24 -- 7 and you guys are going to get so sick of me!!!

GETTING FREEDOM INTO PERSPECTIVE

AS YOU DEAL WITH STUDENT CONFRONTATION (NO FUN, I'M SURE), HERE'S A DIVERSION AND SOMETHING ALL STUDENTS (& ADULTS) SHOULD HEAR. IT WAS THE LEAST BORING THING I'VE HEARD ABOUT THE COURT.

SAW IT LAST NIGHT & C-SPAN REPEATS IT SAT. 4/23 AT 7 P.M. EASTERN.

TIM RUSSERT, NBC, GOT THE STRAIGHT STUFF ABOUT THE US CONSTITUTION FROM 3 US SUPREME COURT JUDGES PLUS SOME INTERESTING CHILDHOOD BACKGROUND OF THE JUDGES, AND LOTS MORE.

JAY LENO INSPIRED RUSSERT'S INTERVIEW WHEN HE, LENO, INTERVIEWED SOME YOUNG FOLKS ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION AND GOT DUMB ANSWERS.

O.K., I KNOW IT'S A WEIRD SUGGESTION WHEN FACED WITH DAILY MESS; BUT MAYBE YOU CAN GET TRANSRIPT OR VIDEO & WORK IT IN SOMEHOW - TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE DOWN THE ROAD.
