Peacemakers are called the children of God, avant
Nowhere is it easier to see our free will in action than in trying to settle a dispute among family or friends.  We have to juggle ideas and hurt feelings, egos and relationships that need adjustment, and keep ourselves from getting angry while doing it.  Doing it well means understanding not only the problem itself, but why they are are upset.  Overinflated ego is often the cause.  I think ego is a problem solving mechanism, a tool that we use to fathom relationships and their relevance to ourselves and our problems.  It gets carried away when our problem is perceived to be that we need something, especially if it is something somebody else already has.  If we can get to the place where the needing of something is the problem instead of not having the thing, then ego can do its job correctly.

yes!
we have to let it go completely to understand it. it is by struggling with it that we make it real. thank you for the insight!

Sort the problems which you can, and leave the unsolved one for god. Live
your life. happiness and peace what we make in our heart, can't buy it any where. Good luck

good point, sannhet
the ego is a very subtle entity. pappy pointed mine out to me yesterday. by loving the ego, we are spending time with it; watching its differing aspects. as a scientist would objectively watch his subject, i can watch my thoughts and discover the thinker and the thought are one. what i envision as outside of me is of me, and so i can only relate to myself. that is when i fall silent and the ego disappears. that is all i meant to convey.

Avant -
I am wondering if embracing Ego is the best way to go. I have always struggled with how best to deal with Ego. By embracing it, you are accepting it and its ways as okay. I'm not sure if that is the best way to go or not. On the other hand, by trying to destroy it, you are acting in a non-loving way, something that is not acceptable to one on the journey toward "God". It seems that ignoring it is the best path. When I meditate, I am basically clearing my mind (ignoring Ego) so that I can focus on the love of "God". The more I ignore Ego and focus on "God", the less Ego has to say. This seems to work for me. Many mystics of course, speak of overcoming the Ego as the only way to truly ascend to Christ consciousness. But you and others bring up good points as well. Oh well, just another confusing day in the neighborhood.
