I don't think that reactionary behavior is exactly the right move for the Catholic church -- JPII seemed to be working towards a world united in charity and compassion, but this fellow looks to be the sort of hard-liner, hard-nosed type that gives Catholicism a bad name. I know the Americans aren't going to be thrilled about this one. And the fact that he was a Hitler Youth just makes my skin crawl.
