- Go to It Gets Worse
Sorry, been doing the childcare thing...
still try different things... if you are not comfortable being around the general public right now, at least go someplace where you are comfortable. Let's see... one of the things I do for neurological problems is to "try something different" or to do something in a different way. The theory behind that (not mine, a neurologist's) is that although as you age the brain does not learn new tricks as quickly, it still is forming new neural pathways. There are admittedly lots of chemicals involved and people don't know how they work, but I do believe that the mind can do amazing things- just let it know who is boss in your case! Try something different with your spiders- like lucid dreaming when you are awake... hey if you can alter your dreams via logic why not try to influence your waking nightmares? Here. Use my can of Raid. I tell my kids to shoot whipped cream at the bad guys and make it into a funny dream. You are old enough to get the chemicals out

The honest truth is there isn't anyone I can call and ask to come over. I really only have a few people's phone numbers, and most of them don't know me well enough to come over. The ones that do are my parents, and I don't really want to see them right now. My mom would worry about me.

Call a friend
that's what they are for... you don't have to start off by telling them about your spiders. Just say you'd like some company, come hang out for a while. You don't need to tell all. If someone joins you and you feel comfortable, mention just a little bit of what's bothering you...just don't overwhelm...

Thanks. I wish I weren't, but I guess that's just the hand I was dealt

I hope and pray you never have hallucinations. No one should have to deal with this.

There aren't really many people I can call, and I'm always afraid to call friends because it might not be a good time or the might just not want to talk to me. Stupid fears I know, social anxiety sucks.
As for leaving the office, I do it way to often for this kind of thing. My boss is very understanding, but when I leave early once or twice a week, he starts to get impatient, you know?

Unidentified Hacker - I sure hope and pray that if I ever have hallucinations that it is not spiders or snakes. I wouldn't be able to stand that I don't think.

Damn, you should have smacked it when there was just one...
Hacker, you're obviously stressing yourself into seeing more...do you have a friend you could call to keep you company?? Maybe you could ask him/her to smack one for you and see if it helps. I'd be willing to squash a bug I cannot see, but the real ones- yech.... that's why I got married, y'know?
Why don't you leave the office and try a change of location? Tell them it's a stomach thing- something's making you queasy. Hang in there!
