Ody
I fixed the typo.

Trust me, it is far, far from being a lie. My life is about as positive as it gets.

if everyone would understand

god is what we experience

each of us experiences a different god.

and the rest of us cannot conceive of each individual's god

no matter hard each of us tries to make an image of that god to other people

One reason I disbelieved in God for a long while was because I could not

believe in any of the Gods that were presented to me.  It took a while to leap to the realization that I needed to look not for those Gods, but for whatever It was that fulfilled my own concept of what God must be, to be God.  It took a while, but I found my God.  I found it to be a necessary end--an open-ended end--to all I have learned, experienced, and understood.  I wrote something about this in the early pages of my Universe blog...  I know it's around here someplace...   Or maybe Everthing Else has it...   I'll find it and post it again, with some new words about the proof of the necessity I refer to...

Your posts here are level-headed and refreshing, Kooka!

Kooka - this says
"how a person can LIE a positive and healthy life".  We believers can certainly understand how you could do that!  LOL

Experience
I have no clue where you get the idea of 'To not believe in God is to not believe in ourself.'
From what I have seen it is the believers who do not believe in themselves, other people or humanity in general. In fact the simple idea that you need to believe in a higher being is saying you do not believe in yourself.

I have not read much of your stuff, so I have no clue if you have very written anything that has straight out offended me, so don't worry about. In general it is real hard to offend me.

Sowing and Reaping
Some are here for the planting and some are here for the sowing and the reaping. What we do to others reflects on our own life and others. We do not always do or say what is the right. But we learn from our mistakes and achievements in life. How we treat others is as important as how we treat ourselves because eventuallty we will get it back. God is the creator of life and creation. To not believe in God is to not believe in ourself. Every seed of creation was made by God. God is the making of all creation. Count your blessings and see God. Im sure sure God will give you an understanding about God himself if you request. Or maybe even if you don't request. God is the Universe. We are here for a purpose. Good Luck And I would like to apologize for any post that I have written in the past that might of offended you. I wrote a post today to express my feelings. Thank You

actually i think
people have to get away from the old ideas of god anyway
when we distill the idea of god down to the here and now
then we will have discovered that what we should be worshipping
is life itself and all around us.

now, that's hard for some people

in essence, those who discard the traditional god in favor of the moment have taken a quantum leap toward discovering more of the true spiritual

No, nonbelievers believe in the power of the person, while believers put their faith in the power of the higher being. Also the nonbelievers look tot eh future and think of how they can make it better, while believers are more concerned with what is best for them because their general belief is that the end times are coming.
That is what I see at least.

these non-believers -

sound much like True Believers... in their actions... I just read this poem earlier and was thinking of posting it tomorrow in my blog... here is an excerpt - this is how to believe, I believe - (smile)

...O my Lord,
if I worship you
from fear of hell, burn me in hell.

If I worship you
from hope of Paradise, bar me from its gates.

But if I worship you
for yourself alone, grant me then the beauty of your Face.  ~Rabia
