who was it who said, 'it is easier to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter heaven?' we become so absorbed in having that the being is irrelevant.

it makes much more sense when it is applied to the working of the mind, as opposed to right and wrong.

i've heard it described as man's descent into duality, into flesh, as well.

The highly successful egos, it seems to me...
never get this wakeup call. They gain the world and lose their soul, so to speak. It's the failure of the ego to get what it desires (its desires are endless!) that leads the individual to suspect that perhaps the ego is not the be-all and end-all, and thus the light begins to dawn.

Great take on the Prodigal son story! As always, we must give up control to gain control.

I had never looked at the story of the prodigal son quite like that... in the end, he always goes Home and the celebration of the returning... I love that celebration - yet never stay long enough to "fully" appreciate it.

the most important thing we can discover here is that we are not bad. that is a judgment we place on ourselves by trying to overcome something 'wrong'. it is completely made up.

Unfortunately I seem to be the prdigal son over and over again. I am often tempted by the world and the climb back out seems impossible.
