YLF,
I am insinuating something. What, I'm not sure.

I guess there might be something wrong with me if I imagine that you are insinuating something beyond a verbal telephone conversation between friends.

In fact, there must be something wrong with me if I think you are asking about the appropriateness of such an innocent interaction.

My Goodness, Darrke,
I can't believe I forgot to mention my Wiley-Pops!! He rocks. What an awesome man he is!

You can't freak me out with metaphysical shit...

have known a few people who had power of one sort or another over the years. I'm a believer, though I tend to be skeptical on a case by case basis. In your case I just think it's kind of cool.

Ann&Ben, yep. Sometimes it is much easier that way!

Telephone conferencing is a good form of communication.

I agree, once the battle scars heal, it's smooth sailing.

Wham, I agree with most of that last comment,
but if you think about all the innocent people on death row that were proven innocent after DNA testing became available, they may have (and many have) lost their lives unjustly. How about updating how they pick the jury? I watch Law & Order all the time (and Court TV) and I have so often wondered (i.e. OJ trial) how the hell the jury came to the judgments they did.

Excellent news, Temple!!!

Darrke, I've spoken to a handful of people
besides Jimmy and Temple, um, let's see, Crabby (she's from a long time ago and I haven't spoken to her for a LONG time) QuirkyAlone, and Whammie. How come you don't have a phone? Wow. Impressive. I just use my cell. Don't have a home phone anymore.

LOL, Reni!! Sometimes, it's just easier to talk than to type back and forth
though, ya know?

Anytime, Jimmy!
Actually, I had Thursday off work, so I didn't have to worry about staying up late that night.

HolyG, I understand that. I really am not a phone talker
either. Too much time on the phone at work!

Well, JJ, if you can forgive my
3-way, I suppose I must forgive you for yours.

What a lovely post to read! It left me with goosebumps...

Whammie, I understand your point.

I wanted to work for all sides before making a decision, so I worked in civil litigation...pro bono...public defender...and the district attorney.  I decided on being a DA because I felt I could affect change within the system as well as without, even if it was only one case at a time...and even if not always all the time.  Jimmy and I have this debate often.  The system is flawed, indeed, but without both sides represented we wouldn't be able to attempt fairness much less achieve it.  I understand your job a little better than it may seem....I worked in a specialized unit that exists nowhere else in the country.  It's hard to explain here, but I worked side by side with my officers, probation officers, and parole officers in a drug and gang unit for juveniles (I worked in the adult unit periodically also).  I was the only female, attorney, or otherwise.  I think the only solution is for people who feel it is their calling to work from within and without to continue to speak out through legislation all the way to street patrol.  If we give up, what's the alternative?  A dear friend of mine, who I grew up with, is an undercover narcotics officer now in a very bad area of my hometown.  He says that it's all worth it with one "thank you."  I had one of those cases, I bet you have, too.

As far as my daily aches and pains....no need to feel sorry, although it's sweet to say so, thank you, and I appreciate it.  I'm stronger for it and it was my path.  Be safe and keep the faith, Officer Whammie. :)

Temple,

You are most welcome!  I reread your profile, and I am sorry for your daily aches and pains.

Where Mr. Russell Robinson body slammed my on my shoulder as we attempted to effect an arrest, there is not a day that goes by that I do not "remember" him!  I blogged about that a very long time ago.  Everything happened so fast!

Once, I overheard an attorney arguing on a plea deal, and I wanted to march over and say, "Sir, if you think your client has achieved so much redemption, why don't you hire her in a domestic capacity and give her keys to your home?"

It was not my place, and once in a while, I do keep my mouth shut!  But, I am sorry, the job of the Defense Attorney is to put them back on the streets, or at least serve the minimum amount of jail time possible.

Then again, while they are in jail, they compare notes and also buff up and practice how to beat the police and the System.

And there are no real solutions, other than maybe a bomb....pretty harsh, huh?  Well, does anyone else have a solution?

Poor Jimmy, he can barely handle me...
Last night he had to handle two of me! ;)  By the way, my grandma Katie was right, it's not even cancer (it's in remission, watching for one more year).  And, he was at the doctor on that Wednesday, the 6th.  I told them everything, and they had some things to tell me.  I'll fill you in on Saturday, but I wanted to let you know.  Oh, and by the way, he told me his name was Christopher. :) Always.

God, I can't even handle a conversation with myself--what with the
voices and all--no less a conversation with two other people!

It was great to hear your voice actually...
sorry I was such a spoilsport, being all tired and all, but I actually need to sleep, unlike you two crazy cool Ares women. I'm glad the two of you got talking...we'll do it again sometime when I can stay up and hear the juicy parts...

I too hope things get easier for them.  It would be nice to talk to all three of you on the phone!  But the fact that I HATE talking on the phone might make things difficult.

Spiffy,

Isn't that amazing.  Only a night or so ago Lady and Chelly and I got together in a three way in a comment area.  It was quite an event, but I thought of you and the trip that I need to make with the meds you are sure to need soon.  Forgive me, I have dawdled, but you can be sure that I haven't forgotten.  Nevertheless, I managed to have a good time, even though we ended up on a MoPed that was gouging my ribs.  Yes, I find your behavior totally acceptable.
