Billy Cargo, I agree. How many times have I mentioned inverted pyramids in recent weeks?

When I was a journalism major (almost finished the degree) we talked
about papers going more and more to features.  I still think features are something best left to magazines while papers should do pyramid style hard news with plenty of opinion and commentary.

Wildwoman, it shouldn't be like that but it is and the higher up one goes, the worse it gets

Ca88andra, don't be deterred by that. I am not. Indeed it makes me more determined

Hmmm I don't think I wanted to read about the jungle just now... *sigh* Oh well.

MayB, yes... fascinating new lives are meant to be had.  No matter the fiction, I still have to deal with the publishers... it's the facts that I find so questionable, misleading, often dull... as Pilate said to Jesus, "What is Truth?"... can you imagine... all the politics he dealt with... lying, kissing up.  I love his question... though I believe Jesus is the Truth, I also think there is a "Reality" that supercedes "reality" which includes a fantastic, truth-filled, imagination.

MerryAnne, that's great but just wait until you move into the heart of the jungle ;-)

So far all my articles have been short ones.
And my pitching has gone really well (I almost want to touch wood when I say that).

but of course if my article is a major one for the newspaper or magazine the pressure goes up and the expecations go up and my stress level will certainly go up!

CarolynMoe, maybe I should just make up a fascinating new life for myself. Why not?

MerryAnne, I've noticed people don't like the truth

The imagined world is often a better place

MayB, this is why I so much prefer to make the entire thing up.  If no publishers want it, and no one shows up for book signings, I'll go offer bite size candy bars and sell my books door-to-door.  Or over the telephone.  Even when I'm rich and famous.  Get people to work for me.  "Hello, this is the CarolynMoe organization calling???... Hello?")  A new day in the publishing world... By pass WalMart, Barnes & Nobles, and Amazon.com for those wise folk who "refuse to buy retail."  Can you tell I'm "losing it?"

Whew...
luckliy I haven't had to crawl through the jungle yet. But then again I'm not writing features... yet! :)
