I find it so strange you love the language! I spent most of my life trying to escape my Russian background and everything that went along with it. I know enough Russian to tell people I cannot speak it. Strangely enough my eldest son is very interested in our family background...

RobDon...

Thanks so much for the interesting information.  I'd love to visit your gorgeous Oz one day, too!!

Tapsel...

The only Czech word I know at the moment is Zaradrevi...In English, that means cheers, congratulations and good health.  I plan to study Czech at some point, so I'll let you know when I start.  God bless you.

lovelyladymonk - I have never tried to learn Russian but I tried off and on through the years to learn the Czech language because it was the tongue of my mother's people.    It seemed so hard and I never could master it.   Oh, I know words and short sentences but never learned enough to converse easily.

there's a large Russian population here, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, and I agree there is something haunting and beautiful about the language ... it has a musicality that I could listen to all day ... and before I know it I'm revisiting all those soul-searching books of russian literature. best wishes with your aspirations.

Hey, Silly...

Bon Chance with your French studies...I wanted to take French in high school, but was told that it would "Be too difficult for me."  What little French I do speak I learned from watching television (also how I learned my first Russian phrases)and also from friends.  I'll take it some day on my own though...After I master all the other languages I want to learn!!

I'm doing fine, thanks!  Our walk was short, but nice.  We were hungry, so we just took a quick one before heading back for dinner.  ;-)

Thanks, Roofpig...

I agree.  Right now, I'm just reviewing the first few lessons in the book.  Interestingly enough, my course book was written by the LIVING LANGUAGE company...They sell Russian course books, but not Ukrainian...Go figure...????  So I'll have to order my Ukrainian and Croatian course books from Berlitz...But one language at a time!!!!

In any case, I'll be sure to keep ya posted...How are ya today?  Hope you enjoyed your walk last night.  God bless.

Very cool!  It'll be interesting to see the progression from where you are now to the point where you could actually converse in Russian!  :-)
