MayB, no... not revolting behavior... I would never encourage that.

Hey Carolyn, I was thinking of moving the whole class out into the sunshine

MayB, Actually, I was in the mood to use Huge fonts.  Okay, so it wasn't funny.  How 'bout this... ?  Spend a bit of time outdoors each day, away from the grinding rut...

CarolynMoe, so you think it's time for revolting behavior? I think that many of these kids have traveled from far away to attend this course and it is not easy for them to actually revolt.

MayB, if I was good at navigating the legal channels, I'd help them use their "pens" to get a full refund.  What a crappy class... if you don't want to teach, let it be your "big favor" to the students on your way out.  Your crowning achievement at "Snap U."

Word.smith, sometimes I wish I didn't. it might be easier

Talion, I understand that dynamic too when it applies to newspapers and other publications. Intellectually I know that teaching can only be a hobby for me--emotionally I wish it were valued as more than a hobby.

Teaching/education is a business just like any other. Somewhere on that campus in an office is a number-cruncher who only cares about enrollment and tuition checks clearing the bank. No emotion, no illusions of grandeur, no noble sacrifices for the next generation, just cold hard facts and figures. Things we do for money we call jobs. Things we do for personal enjoyment and a sense of fulfillment we call hobbies. There should be room for both in our lives as long as we know the difference between them.

All the best to you with this.

You have a heart and that's what makes it difficult to make a decision.

MerryAnne, it has helped me to see that I should do it privately

Too bad that teaching and
following the curriculum aren't the same thing...

Scoop, I know how she and you feel. Most of the students just want to get through but there are a few who really care and want to learn. As JohnMcNab said if I could find a way of just teaching them.

My wife is a reading teacher and puts so much into it, it drives me crazy
she cares so much and brings her work home and tries to come up with ways to help the ungrateful and their idiot parents, sorry had to vent
