that's a hard thing to grasp if you've never been there.

Well done, avant
We get so used to searching, we sometimes forget what to do when we find it.

Avant -
Great post! God's will is unconditional love because in my world, God is unconditional love. Pure, unadulterated, unconditional love.

I was thinking along the lines of child abusers.  I'm sure God loves them, but I'm also sure he's not at all pleased with their actions and there may be "hell" to pay someday.

you are so right about that. we distance ourselves when we are caught up in negativity. we are aware that we have chosen to put ourselves there. i find myself calling out to God to heal my mind and bring me back to Him. it is very sublime.

Sometimes, when I am at my absolute worst, when I want to hide from God, that is when He comes closest...  I didn't experience this when I was younger - but my relationship with God was different then... It is like He knows if I am being mean, angry, callous, etc. I need Him so much more than when I am being patient, loving and kind. ~Metta

this might be hard to swallow, but God does not pity anyone. if he did, he would not be loving. think about it. when we pull someone aside, like a child, and coddle him, does it make him strong? we can step in, of course, when he is being beaten. that is another matter. what i'm talking about is feeling sorry for someone who feels sorry for himself. no amount of pity will help him, because he believes the world is victimizing him, and therefore someone must help him. if we help him, we are enabling him. this is psychology, of course, and i digress. but, about God: He understands that there is a wider purpose for life, than what we see. we see a fragment. we are not our bodies. we are eternal. we are working out karma, and have chosen these things for our growth. forgetting where we have come from and why is part of the divine plan. how would we discover ourselves or grow if we already knew? something to chew on, darrke. sorry for the lengthy reply. i've been cutting grass all day and i'm starved for intelligent stimulation.

I think sometimes God can be a vengeful God too...I picture him as being loving toward us all, but protective of those who can't protect themselves.  Children, underdogs of various types...

that's good to hear. i felt uplifted when i wrote it, but it's a touchy subject. we use God in our words so much that, i think, we stop thinking about what it is we are thinking about.

why, thank you. it seems as though defending our cause and using force is the best route to handling things, but often times we discover that we are only hurting ourselves. when this is realized fully, we stop worrying about what others are doing and saying. the message is delivered much better if taught through example.

that is true. we must learn to love who we are, what we are, and where we are. there is no other place than here; there is no other time than now. all else is fiction.

What a beautiful blog.

You are so right on.  God is all loving.  God is love.  If we truly love God and ourselves and each other, which is often hard to to with the devil stirring things up, and if we pray a lot and be open to listening to God, we will find what He wants for us, and we will be happy.

In order to accept God's unconditional love for whoever we are at our core, we must first accept and love who we are unconditionally. How can we accept that a higher being and all-powerful God loves us if we are uncomfortable with who we have become?
