Thanks for the discussion.  I didn't think we could settle down to a rational discourse.  I'm glad to find myself proved wrong.     JJ

JJ Wilde,
Great! I think we agree there is a problem! Which is a start, I have no solutions either!

glenn,

I actually enjoyed our session here.  I know Georgie wouldn't give me the time of day.  No problem, a security agent would be more likely to have exact  time.  I'm sure we would encounter the same problem with any president.  I carry the analogy a bit far there.

I do not think that world problems, at this point in history, have any simple solutions for any president.  I think it's quite off the point to blame everything that is wrong upon whoever is in office.  I also don't think that we can afford to ignore the problems that would arise if anarchistic terrorists were allowed to run rampant.  I don't think, either, that nitpicking our leaders does any more than make us more vulnerable to those same terrorists.  By engaging in that, we are actually working foolishly on their behalf.

JJ Wilde,
The "predator" comment explains itself! There are people who mask their inhumanity in self-serving rhetoric! I am not trying to promote taking anything from anybody. Trust me George Bush would not give you the time of day either!

glenn,
One item I missed.  Yes, I am offended by the absence of compassion in America, as well as the much greater absence of compassion in the rest of the world.  How do you think politcal debate is going to cure that problem?

EM, I'm baffled...

Okay, please, seriously, stop saying you are sorry for me.  I know you mean well, but I don't want pity.  My disability is both a gift and a curse, in a spritual manner.  So, I don't want pity.  I don't need it.  And where oh where did I say all war is bad?  Please tell me.

I must end this now because I have to sign off, but, the point of this little commenting session was to speak my disapproval of the man in the white house.  I disapprove.  Strongly.  Forget the disability.  Forget Iraq.  I still disapprove.  Yes, it's sadly true that some men only understand war.  In this case, it didn't have to happen now (Iraq) and I think we have to start putting the needs of this country and its citizens -- all of them, not just the disabled -- first.  We have many domestic fences that need tending.  I see Bush as a man with an agenda that doesn't include the best interest of all Americans.  This was the point of this post, and my comments.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to have tea with JJ.  He has a point.  Ta.

You mentioned the fact that Bush played on the emotion of fear to help his re-election! I was simple adding how weak Kerry/Edwards was!

glen,
I came back to see what kind of insult you handed out for me.  I admit to being suckered back, that's all.  Political crap is really not of interest to me.  It once was, so I occasionally stop in to a political rag to see if it's the same as ever, and it is, but you won't find me entering the bickering, senseless fray.  Who convinces whom of what?  No one.

Again, I am sorry for your disablity. I am not making lite of it. No, I do not know you, nor you me.

However, I do not think that the Goverment should be ignorning things like the situation in Iraq and handing over millions of Dollars to illegals. Our people, such as you, should be helped by all means. But to say that the war is bad. ALL War is bad. But some are necessary.

posted by Entrepreneur_Maker on April 8, 2005 at 5:53 AM | link to this | reply

EM, who do you think you are?

I used my disability as an example, only one.  Like I said there were many, and you don't have the slightest idea what the situation is with me.  My comments were directed as to Bush being a good leader, which he isn't, he's a frat boy on a power trip who got lucky.  Period.  Don't be sorry for me, I don't want your pity.  There were many other points in that post.  I do believe that there was lax policy prior to Sept 11....you say it bothers you, but you just assumed.  You didn't READ what I said.  I said he knew about specific things at that time.  I didn't get into the history prior to that time.  Clinton wasn't perfect, no.  Others weren't perfect.  My point was, Bush is not a good President.  It bothers ME that you can't see that this was the point I was making.  I never said the war changed my life, I said Bush changed my life.  Please, if you are going to respond, read what I actually said.

I am responsible for my financial state?  First, just because one can think or type doesn't mean they can work.  That's just plain ignorance on your part.  You don't know how many hours a day that person may have access to a computer, how many hours a day they can sit up, type, whatever.  That's why they call it disability. Secondly, I'm not going to waste my time explaining my situation to you because I don't need to explain myself.  I simply pointed this out as an example as part of an argument.  Who the hell are you to tell me what I should or shouldn't do without all the facts?  What if the problem were in my brain, thus effecting my imagination and my typing?  I was specific in my comments to OBP to make a point, not so you could ride in on your high horse and play some superiority card.  You have no idea who I am, what I do, what my disability is, what I am doing or not doing about my financial situation, or how I make a living.  Keep your advice to yourself.  I take great disrespect to that comment.

Glenn? I don't get it....you want to add that the Democrats had a weak ticket and a weaker strategy?  I thought you were writing to protest our current administration.  I happen to agree with you, by the way, neither party is very appealing right now...or at the time of the election.  But, I don't get your post in combination with that comment.

I would like to add that the Democratic party had a very weak Presidential ticket and a weaker strategy! Do not be bullied by the absence of humanity in this man and his cronies!

With respect, it sounds as if your angst directed at the President, war etc, is more to the point your on disablity and pissed off.

The fact that you don't see that we were attacked on 9-11 and that was the result of lax policy for YEARS before bothers me.

I'm sorry you live below poverty, but quite frankly, that has nothing to do with the war, and wouldn't change your financial situation if it were to be repaided or stopped.

You are responsible for your financial state, disabled or not you should do something about it. You can type, so and think so I know you can turn your thoughts and imagination into money to improve your situation.

offbeatpub, open your eyes

Just on this network you will see many people complain about serving in Iraq.  You will find many blogs on the internet from military currently serving who feel this war is unjust.  Bush is a great leader?  A landslide?  Did you watch the election?  This country is falling apart, and we have spent upwards of $500 billion dollars already (I believe that is conservative) over there, with another request for $82 billion dollars.  Meanwhile, people like me, on disability, can't even survive because I get one SEVENTH of my salary and he cut healthcare for the FOURTH time in his administration so I can't get medication.  He cut healthcare, social security, tax benefits to lower income families (I made below the poverty line and I OWE taxes....never before has that happened to me until Bush, and it's because of changes in tax law according to my tax preparer).  We have no exit plan in Iraq, which he promised.  He promised Osama Bin Laden was his #1 priority and he wouldn't give up until he finds him. Then, asked not too very long later if he knew where Bin Laden was he said, no....and I don't care.  That is a fact.  You can look it up.  If that's your good idea of a good leader, I'd hate to see your idea of a bad one.

Just for the record, this is not an attack on you.  You and I have never met around here, so to speak, but you seem like a sweet lady.  It's really easy to misunderstand each other and to get upset online, so let me say....hi, I'm Temple.  You, are just gorgeous!  You seem lovely, and this is not personal.  If I say anything on this soap box that hurt your feelings, please note it was not meant that way.  This man has personally made my life much more difficult, and people like me.  It's a hot button.  There's more I could say, but if you really look at his record you'll not see a leader that is doing well.  He's alienated our allies and made relations worse with leaders where our relations were sensitive.  He's a cowboy, not a diplomat.  I happen to love cowboys, my Daddy is one, from the same part of Texas.  But, that doesn't mean he should be President.  One final thing, the reason he was re-elected at all is because he ran on a platform of fear.  He used September 11th as a running tool.  He scared people.  He made them think that he would protect them, that we needed him.  What they were forgetting is that he had knowledge of hijackings and potential attacks before they happened.  It happened on his watch.  Why should that make me feel safe?

Glenn,
I came from the new comments page just to see how your comments were going.  The very first thing I read was you egotistically and arrogantly insulting a reader/commenter.  I remembered why I stayed away.  Thank you.  I'll continue to stay away.  Your attitude is about as open minded as a stone.

Offbeatpub,
You obviously get your history from FOX News! George Bush was elected in a Landside?? You cannot even get that straight!

posted by Glennb on April 8, 2005 at 5:01 AM | link to this | reply

I love George Bush, he is a great leader. Obvioiusly I am not the only one who feels that way...he was re elected by a land slide. Thank God we have a strong president. Your post could be directed to the Romans, The Brit's, and all other nations who colonized years ago. With war, comes death. My brothers and sisters, son and father served this country and I never heard any of them complain. Typically it is those who never participate in the fight for freedom who complain the most.
