Diet and the new man
There are lots of ways to limit your food intake while on a date Symph, but the other alternative is to eat anything you want but increase your cardio exercise at least 4 times daily.........

I'm so happy for you!! I came back and read all this great news about you and the new guy. I couldn't be more thrilled to hear that you're back out there in the world and giving love a chance. Love to you and I missed you so so so so so so so so so much!!!

He just wants to see more of you ;-). Eat small portions. When you know you are going to spend time with him adjust how much you eat before and after. Suggest other things not focused on food. Don't talk about it much with him but just say you like to eat healthily. HAVE FUN

Sounds like you're having fun,
and I'm glad to see that. Take care Symphony

SYMPHONY - sounds like you already have plenty of advice here.   There are lots of wonderful salads out there, but I always ask for the dressing on the side.  That way you can control how much fat you want on it by just dipping the fork before spearing the veggies.

SYMPHONY,

I started to post this yesterday...What is his body like?

Breaking bread is a wonderful way to socialize, but if it is saboutaging your diet, perhaps you should suggest other activities that do not involve food, or where it is easier for you to exercise your option to say no.  There are concerts, theatre, the zoo, roller skating, movies, sporting events, and a lot of other venues other than the restaurant experience.

Enjoy the man, enjoy the food, but most of all Enjoy yourself.

posted by I-R-William on April 8, 2005 at 6:46 AM | link to this | reply

Sounds like you are enjoying yourself which is wonderful!
You do deserve some fun times. Hmm, maybe the suggestion about drinking lots of water so you can eat smaller portions of whatever he's having would work and don't forget exercise! As a twosome or foursome (kids added) there are many things you can do to burn some calories - walks, bicyling, tossing a ball in the park, etc. I hope whatever is bothering you works out okay. Take care!

Symphony,

Hey, I know that this can be a problem.  M and I love to eat and I often end up just eating whatever he feels like eating without thinking about the size of the portions.  It just hits home on the scale that a 5'4"  women can't eat the same as a 6' guy and not see the consequences.  Most guys don't want to hear about what you can't eat and an appetite for food sends a signal that you have a healthy appetite for sex and aren't neurotic about it.  But I think Marivye has a good plan: eat your own food, let hiim eat his and don't make a big deal about it, because it's boring as hell to a guy to hear a woman go on and on about her weight and makes us seem upright and no fun.

dont order anything fried and stay away from bread, potatoes, rice and pasta... have meat or chicken with veggies... and eat lots of fruit... that works perfectly... that's what I'm doing

symph,
enjoy the company of your man...what a lovely lucky girl you are! I would try to steer the activities away from eating, it may be the only thing he can think of for a date. I'm sure someone else has said this, but introduce a new activity each week, something that takes you out of the house and away from the restaurants. Good luck!  red

He may suggest eating all the time because he isn't quite sure what else to do on a date. Try mentioning something new that doesn't involve food.

Salads & appetizers...Make that salads or appetizers.  Just because you are going out doesn't mean it has to be a big meal.  Or take half of it home in a doggie bag.  Maybe split a plate between you (could be romantic...)

Symphony...

The only suggestion I can make to you is that you be completely honest with him.  You need to do everything you can to keep yourself as healthy as possible.  If your new man truly cares about you, he'll understand and be supportive of you.  Maybe you could find some healthy receipes and cook for him some evening?

Do keep me posted.  Best of luck!!!!!

I didn't read the other comments, so please forgive me if this is a repeat of other suggestions:

1.  Let him order out -

2. You could be sure to have your own fresh vegies and fruit on hand and eat them mostly.

3. Be sure to eat small portions of whatever it is you/he has ordered.

4. Drink lots of water and therefore you can tell him "I am not very hungry" and it will be true!

Don't you love the suggestions from someone who is about 35 pounds overweight herself!!???

Well Symph,
the chubby side of me says enjoy it for now. You can always do the salad thing later.

As for your anti-blog problem, maybe just write it but don't post it. Just so you can get it out.

symphony,
How about vegetarian food, salad and fruits? It is better to bring it out in the open. He is also spending a lot of money on the fatty food. ;-)
