FactorFiction,
I did and still do have a very loving family. I am really lucky in that respect. We are all very affectionate and it's come through to our children and grandchildren. My dad has a soft heart and would give his children anything within his power. We all love him too much to take advantage of him and he knows it. It was a shock to me to find out that all families aren't like that.

Frankenkitty,

It's neat that you grew up in Massachusettes because my mom did too.  I think she lived in Worcester most of the time.  I still have a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins around the Boston area.

Thanks for your comment.

I feel the same way about my dad.
My childhood wasn't much different from yours, except my mom always put apples in our lunches instead of cookies because we lived in Massachusetts near orchards. She wasn't much of a baker, but she was always there. Anyway, I enjoyed reading your blog because it made me smile. Take care :)

I agree, Taps.
My mom did everything with a lot of elbow grease.  Thanks for your comment!

RAME - I enjoyed this so much.   It is hard to find hard working moms like that any more.    And, in those days they didn't even have a lot of modern conveniences to help them.
