Well the true answer ot that is yes and no.
In many ways we are nothing more than animals, but not in the insulting way you and many others try to put it. Just the fact that you put the concept of animals how you do helps to show the lack of respect for life. We are merely animals, while at the same time being unique to the animal world. Yet we need to see our place and not believe we should be on this high, great pedestal above all other animals
I hold the utmost respect for life and what it truly means to be alive. It really is that simple. I believe there is something about our sprit that is more than just random firings of electrons in our brains.
But I have yet to see one thing that helps to back up the idea of keeping bodies alive to simple keep them alive. Such thinking is a great insult to the idea of the human spirit and is a great insult to life in general. You show respect for life be understanding when it is right to allow that life to end.
Also, we are much more humane to what we consider lower animals. We would never treat animals are cruelly and inhumane as we treat people by forcing their bodies to live long after they are truly died. Animals seem to have much more sense than we do when the elderly and sick go off alone to die when they feel that it is time to die. We could only hope to ever gain the kind of wisdom we can see in the animal world that somehow we have grown out of through our own self righteousness.

I hope her friends and family can remember her as a young girl and move on with living rather than hold on to the image of her as a little bird curled in a hospital bed.
