We bank at the same place...
which is sometimes a bad thing. Because they simply return the check to me and say that they cannot honour it at this time. If he were at a different bank, they'd give me back the check and whack him with an IF fee. Oh well. It's my fault. I got him into my credit union when we got married. And now we're ALL stuck with him. LOL.

Maybe the money was there when he worte the check? My ex always balanced his account by checking the ATM for available funds. Not a good way to do it, but I suspect the way many people get by.

I would probably present them at his bank to avoid fees in my own account.
