If I remember correctly, O Henry either began writing in prison, or was inspired there.  Others of his stories are "The Last Leaf" and a cute Christmas story where the woman sells her long locks for money to byher husbans a watch chain, and he sells his watch to buy her combs for her hair.  Can't remember the name.

Three hots and a cot. There is a local guy around here that sweats it out until he can get a miller high life quart. Kinda sad as he counts out his pennies and nickles with shakey hands for that beloved bottle. But he gets his bottle and doesn't bother anybody. Police leave him alone.

mysteria, O. Henry is a short story writer. He wrote this story, I think
it's title was "The Cop and The Anthem".  I think he's an American writer.  But that's what the story was about.  I thought of it because I had gone by the church today.  I never realized there was a church that close to my house, I'm actually in their parish more so than downtown at the cathedral, and I realized there was a latino mass on Saturday night at 7:00PM.
