Sannhet, you're right,

we are discussing two different paradigms:  one is to embrace the Divine by becoming it--like leaving one's own home to go live with one's  ancestors; the other, is to invite the Divine in--like inviting the ancestors to come live with you.  Both have the goal of connecting with the Divine.

I think I'll have to think on this a bit. The paradigm I've been living for the past several years includes overcoming the Ego to allow for a higher level of consciousness/spirituality to be assumed. The Ego is of this world. "God" or the One or whatever is not. The only way to reach union is to become more and more spiritually mature, which leaves the Ego out. Now, I guess at first blush, one could say that integrating the Ego is a way of overcoming it . . . hmmmm, got to let this percolate a bit.

Definitely on the same wavelenth here...

The wonder of it is, when we bring that through-- channel our own selves, as it were-- we bring that beauty with it.  When the dorkiest, most pathetic, mouth-breathing, hideously shy nerd plugs into the computer where he has no self-doubt, no insecurity, no sense of being judged or dispised...  He begins to run what I call  his professional energy, and just like that, he is beautiful!

I  was a friend's guest at a Catholic church service and saw someone transformed like that .  He was performing the Communion ritual, in which the wafer and wind are transformed to the blood and flesh of Christ, according to Catholic dogma.  I don't know about them, but he was himself transfigured, and I couldn't take my eyes off him!  The next day I happened to see him on the street : he seemed a totally different person, and he had no idea what I was talking about when I told him what I had seen.  All the sparkle and glow was gone, and he was just your average Joe...

Wow ... you talk about some deep stuff.

I'm working on improving my self-image. I think what's important is to realize, our essence is spirit--that's who we are! Whether we're attractive or not, well-built or not, highly-intelligent or not, our physical, intellectual, and emotion states are temporal. ... Our spirit is immortal. And without flaw.
