Love Karen Kingston!
I love that book! Her book is wonderful, but I wonder what she would say about "electronic clutter" - you know, too many unread e-mails in your inbox, the insides of your PC are mess, etc! I find that just as stressful as actual physical clutter - but at least you don't have to dust it! See more on going digital in my blog....

You are right Quirky -- OK you can save everything of old stuff that you want if it all fits in a box. Photos, notes, and stuff. take care!

LoanLady,
It's nice in theory, but not always that easy, because many people have a hard time "letting go"--for a lot of reasons...

Maybe you should head up the "BLOGIT GARAGE SALE". Sounds like we all have something to get rid of.....

Save the money on Karen's book. Bring the big trash can into the house and load everything you have not worn, used, touched in six months into the can. Call your favorite charity for pick up. Place in trash bags in front of the garage. They will come while you are at work or blogging. They leave a nice reciept for tax write off. Do this three times a year, or after any shopping spree as to make room for more STUFF.

offbeat,
there's nothing wrong with a little memorabilia, as long as you have the space and it doesn't take up an entire room, lol.

Quirky,
It does feel good to live lighter. I call it purging and do it about once a month. What's odd is the things that never make it to the curb, my kids report cards from elementary school,(there all grown now) old Mother's Day cards... guess I need the book to tell me what to do with those boxes..

Clutter...what clutter.
Somedays I think the only thing that will fix my problems is a flame-thrower. How fun would that be. I could have my own TV show!

PoopyH, actually, it's funny ya wrote this cause
A couple months ago, I made a personal pact with myself....Every day or so, I was going to tackle a pile, stack, box, or any other "clutter" around my house. Surprising myself imensly, I have kept it up! I have recycled and thrown crap out and my house ACTUALLY LOOKS BIGGER! I'm not a pack-rat, but stuff just seems to accumulate after so many years. I have actually FELT better in general. Great post, my friend.

Quirky
I managed to step over things, move through traps, scramble to the computer totally blind. That is to say I saw nothing, now I know it is there and I feel guilty, I will have to do something. Did you really have to be Ms. Fixit to my clutter? Now I am depressed. But I forgive cat people, so you are okay for now. LOL

whenever something feels too cluttered I clean the bugger up... as for blogs I may delete posts or blogs and add blogs... I like change and routine bores me and clutter can drive me nuts sometimes
