Man-boy, I agree with you that people are just trying to get through life as best they can. I used to be far less understanding of that than I am now. Not that I'll spend a lot of time listening when people are being idiotic or ranting but it is easier now to see from where it springs.

Meringue, I guess this is a place where people get away with tantrums more than in real life

I agree with you ,Mayb....
Attention-seeking suits a child, but then we all need to grow up a bit.....Events and feeling cannot replace talent.

Hi MayB!
I usually meet new writers because they stop and leave a comment on my posts.
I also will click on those who are commenting on my favorite writers.
When I first came here my readership was about double what it is now. My 'mission' fell by the way but I have kept writing because I do like it here. I have always dreamed that something as unifying as these networks would arise.
As for issues, well, I try not to be a foghorn leghorn type and try to foster an understanding that we are all trying to struggle through the cosmic gumbo as best we can. Some of us have discovered that living the examined life is the life for us.
Maybe, formerly we were content to keep our writing in journals, but here we a way to make our dreams and opinions known without trampling anyone else.
We must also be able to give the other credit for having the ability to come to their own conclusions without the need for others to agree or disagree with them.
Debate is needed, but not mere derogatory gainsaying and gameplaying.
Cheers! Readership will pick up. Manboy

John McNab I think it is fair to say that those with "issues" are not always the most open-minded people. Not that there is anything wrong with having strong opinions. Confused? I am.

I would think that not having an 'issue' would mean you would look at things from a more forgiving and logical point of view, MayB.

I try to focus on positive things--learning, etc but I do know that people prefer drama and stories about challenges

Well, MayB, if one is going to write for others to read, they must have something to write about that is of interest. Problems of life is always a biggy in drawing people. But, if one doesn't have any problems, there are other things to write about if one looks around. Usually, a person without problems just has to wait a while and some will show up.

Big issues aren't required...it's always nice to see someone overcome challenges though, no matter what the size.

MayB,
lots of folks like to read blogs by people who don't have issues. But we are only human and can't resist gawking at the car crash that is Blogit over the past few days. :)
