kooka, your argument with Janes
reminds me of a disagreement I had with a coworker on Dubya's means, methods, and madness.  Although Janes seems to be a little better prepared to back her opinion, my coworker based her opinion entirely on what she saw on television and her intuition.  Talk about gullible ignorance!  Talk about happily brainwashed!  Sad to say, Dubya's administration has nearly perfected the hypocritical and misdirecting superstate made famous by another George -- Orwell.  And if you don't believe Bush and Co. are lining their pockets, I read a report that stated that Dubya's oil interests alone last year garnered him over $250 million.  I just signed a petition circulated by Senator Barbara Boxer to stop the drilling in ANWR.  If you are interested in fighting this superfluous piece of legislative crap, click here.

the Alaska drilling has been shown to be phony balony

it will provide less than 1% of the need.

endanger the environment of several species of animal -- interrupt the breeding grounds of various animals

basically, construction industry, pipeline contractors and  oil companies will profit -- and it's been predicted this oil will run out in less than 5 years

it won't do a thing to relieve the petroleum problem.

oh please yourself.

I am looking at Bush's actions and he has yet to do even one damned thing that is truly good for this country. The average American is NOT making money, that is very much obvious. The average American right now is hurting and has been hurting more and more every year since Bush took office.
I don't care what BS Bush is peddling to his followers. He is full of it and playing you all. And you are letting him get away with it, which is the most upsetting part of it all.
If he cared for this country we would not be in Iraq. We would have dealt with those who directly attacked us and have then pulled back to get things fixed here at home. There would be some focus on actually dealing with internal problems instead of rushing out and trying to force ourselves on the rest of the world at the cost of our own needs.
I don't care what Bush's propaganda is that he is feeding you and others who seem to think he is some kind of savior, but his actions make ti clear he cares nothing at all for this country.

Having a bit of an inside scoop

on some of Pres. Bush's personal comments leads me to understand that he cares deeply for this country.  Obviously you don't agree with his leadership methods, but please don't judge him when you don't really understand him.

By the way, it is possible for the average lower to middle class person to make money and gain wealth in both a growing and a depressed economy.  Don't just assume that the wealthy are getting wealthier thanks to Bush's supposed greedy tactics (whatever those tactics are -- and I disagree with that sentiment).

You are starting to scare me. You really think Bush gives a damn about what happens to the country? As long as he and his buddies get richer due to what he does, he could not care less about what happens to the average American. He has made this very clear. You just need to open your eyes and look at all he has done so far and what he is trying to do.

Again I say OH PLEASE.

What a lot of rot.  But think what you like, if it makes you feel better.

What I find most amusing is that you and so many others eat up Bush's BS like it is so perfect. You really are blinded by him. He is not doing this because it needs to be done, but because it will profit him and his supporors the most. There are other ways out there that will not be destroying protected wild life areas. If you look at what he has done he is playing the country like crazy to do this. It is not some last minute thing he came up with to fix the problem. It, just like the war with Iraq, is something he has been wanting to do for some time now and has been looking for any justification for it.
Bush is a greedy, pathetic man who cares nothing for out country and everything for the gaining of profit. What level does he have to sink to before you will see this?
Do you really not care that he is treating his whole presidency as if it were some game to see just how many of his own personal agendas he can get done? He is playing everyone in the country for saps and people like you are kissing his ass for doing it, as the country sinks around you because of it.

Oh Please, Kooka.

Do you have any idea how MASSIVE Alaska is?  There is a little room for some oil wells without spoiling the incredible beauty.  Do you have a better solution for the energy crisis?  Are you driving a "green" vehicle?  Heck, a few more nuclear power plants built with ultra safe, modern technology would make a world of difference for our energy needs, but heaven forbid we have such a plant nearby.  All the protestors driving their fumes belching, gas guzzling old cars would be up in arms.  Or how about wind energy? That is a very effective method of obtaining energy. . . except that nobody wants to look at those damn ugly windmills out their back yard.  The fact is that Saudi Arabia and many other OPEC nations are pumping at near maximum capacity, and it's countries like China with their soaring demands for oil that are causing an increase in price.  And yet you lambast Bush with your usual tiresome and hateful drivel because he is trying to find ways to increase oil production to meet the needs of this country.

Give me a break!

I grew up in a farming community in Southern Maryland. Nowadays nobody farms and all of the gardens and fruit trees are gone.  Farmers are being squeezed out of their land and contractors are buying left and right to build houses and businesses on the property.  Sad to say, everything is about profit now, nature be damned.
