Whacky, it is a woman's account of an event which changed her life. I won't know til I read it if I think it is well-written or not. If not that will make it even more awkward for me

I agree about the reading the work of those with different views. I do so, even on Blogit. It forces you to re-evaluate your own beliefs.
Of course it can be more difficult when the author is known you personally. I am sure it will be fine

MayB, I more often than not Don't share the 'anything' that a particular
book speaks of, nor care to, but I read it anyway, seeing it as a light into the mind of a person, thoughts that would never occur to me, nor enter mine, if I didn't read the book.
Like reading Annie Coulter. I keep spitting on the books and shouting at her, but read them, so that I can know what her followers are thinking.
I tried to be honest with a friend who writes and it was so very difficult. I am a diplomat's daughter, however, and pulled it off. What a painful experience that was. I don't envy you this task.
