That is one of the ideas I have often tried to get across here. Whatever is out there is not what any of our religions follow. We are just making it up as we go along right now. I just can not believe in the Biblical idea of God, it does not make sense at all. I do not understand finding comfort in those ideas and am very puzzled by the people who do.

I don't think Islam will work for me either. If there is a God out there, I seriously do not think there is a religion on Earth that has it right. Whatever is out there is something we have no clue of and are just making up the various religions to try and explain it all.

i like it son
people keep putting tuings on god when they should just be understanding and accepting these as part of life
just like birth, ceath, any other state of disrepair
or -- everything that goes on around us -- in the natural world -- birth, death, killing, dying, disease, cruelty -- it's all out there
how can we say "god" has anything to do with it except that it all is just "god" -- what is, is.

It's kind of random, but I stopped in to have a read. Now I'm going to have to stew about whether my visit to your post was part of God's plan or not. Anyway, excellent arguments as usual.

Rev, try Islam
Brother Kooka, I was right where you are. Inshaa Allah (God Willing), you'll get a wake up call that you can't chalk up to chance. He's real, but He is not our Pal, or Co-Pilot, or someone who'll bleed for us. That stuff's just devious distortion of Reality. Allah is abstract, Incomprehensible by any of us, and His Will can manifest in ways that we can, and often do, perceive as randomness. But when we reach for coincidence, it is often our nervous souls trying to deflect the message. But when you grow up in a world that tells you the Creator of vast, well-integrated universes had a little boy and wanted to cater to our wonderfulness so much that he sent that son to bleed all over the place so that we can diddle our secretaries and choir boys, depending on preference, and then achieve salvation by declaring, "I believe He died for me!" well, it can be confusing... He did not walk amongst us, and we can't achieve expiation so easily, but we can have enough certainty of Him to order our lives. The irony is that Truth can only be achieved by Americans and other Westerners by reaching for their current whipping boy, Islam.
Good luck.

I don't think there is that much comfort in the idea that "God never gives you more than you can handle." In fact sayings like this push me over into the "there is no God" frame of mind. I go back and forth on that idea a lot. But in quiet times, I believe there is something out there. That something just doesn't "fit" in the nice little boxes religions want to build for it.
