It always floors me having to defend common sense and logic in talking with some people. They do think that by attaching the word "theory" that there isn't mountains of evidence to substantiate the "theory." I always like mentioning that the theory of gravity is also a "theory" and have yet to see anyone jump off of a building to try to disprove that one.

"Just because all the information is not there, does not mean that ideas are wrong." This exact statement has been applied to the theory of Creation by Creationists as well. Just thought I'd point that out.

Kooka; For what it is worth...

I know things are getting better. The zealotry you speak of seems to be waning in some pockets and flaring up in others.

A person won't be told the truth. They must feel it.

Over all people on a larger scale is seeing through this literalist all or nothing approach to human affairs.

Who has dared bind  us to a petulantly warped image of ourselves as god. We are sick people.

We cannot imagine it. But surely a time must come when all is forgiven. Even the most heinous of transgressions will be understood for what they are.

We are a long way from the utopia I can envision but there is no reason I can't let the sun from my world nourish me.

I like your blog and I do read it  but I hesitate to answer when I see the pure viotriol that seems to be spewed occasionally in the replies.

regarding many relgionists

it's like anything else

the more you think you know the less you know

and as far as scientists are concerned

at least they are honest in saying there is much they don't know.

but still the evidence is there.  particularly in human society.

Evolution used to be generally called a theory, but we are past that now...

Most rational minded people consider the copious evidence sufficiently compelling, and only the borderline and pathological fundamentalists who think Jesus was an Aryan still have to lean on the word 'theory' as if it's a bad thing...
