From my lofty perch of infallible ethics, I pronounce the following:
1. If he wants to drag it into church and you want the deal bad enough, then go, sit in the back and play games on your cell phone. Maybe fall asleep. Start coughing there. Take him to lunch at a strip joint after the services to seal the deal. If he wants to serve, he better be ready for the return!
2. If it's just money and you don't mind, play up, but expect him to rachet it up on his part.

Thank you Kaelen-Myril - I can sympathize and even identify
with the brief outline you have given us. It sometimes takes a stint on the "outside" to realize just how crazy and how far gone some people can act in the name of their beliefs.

I must say that I am absolutely taken with your writing. I had no idea that anyone else had my views on religion. I was raised in a tight religious home, and even went through seminary. I was a chaplain in a county jail, and a state prison camp. Taught sunday school, and went on several missionary trips. I left the "church" because they did not want me to marry my wife, who was from a different denomination. Since then, they have made it their business to fabricate stories about me. The last I heard I was the leader of a demonic cult. I really appreciate your writing, and I will definitely keep reading.

Yes, and any way that contributes to all being well is fine as far as I'm concerned.

You-look-fabulous -- I appreciate that sentiment
Ultimately what matters more than people getting their acts together, regardless of how they do it?

It's OK, gomedome.
What matters is that you have accomplished a bit of righteous living. You're married, have a business going, and you discuss intellectual matters with others... Guidance - that's what church is for, right? And you obviously don't need it that badly.
