Telynor, it's this kind of
different perception of things that intrigues me. Different realities.

Isaih, Thanks, I like to think
of myself as having a wry sense of humor. I make myself laugh too, sometimes as I write this stuff.

fw, because (I didn't finish that last sentence)
I was too reverent. Not enough of the cynic in me.

Majroj, No, they didn't interview the cat.
But they did interview Hargo's wife and like Jean-Claude she died her hair copper color, but she called it "penny".

Voyager, Hargo, the banker,
says his next work is going to use ATM receipts. I can hardly wait.

J commented that the Gates made the Park look like a construction zone. I thought it looked pretty neat myself. I'm glad it was done, it was lovely to see people laughing and smiling again in the City.

Thanks for the laugh!

I needed a pick-me-up today and your posts often do just that.  Thanks!

I don't know if it's true, but they say an artist has REALLY made it when he or she can move FROM New York and live wherever they damn well please -- upstate NY, Santa Fe, Madison, WI...  I think it's just economics:  given the small market for art, you need enough of a critical mass of producers and consumers to have a viable economy going in the arts.  So it's New York or bust.  If you've made a real name for yourself, then you have the luxury of living outside "the scene" and having a New York gallery worry about marketing you and your art.

And I like the idea of Joseph Cornell living in upstate NY and poking around his houseful of stuff to make his quarky little boxes -- alone, outside the buzz of the city.  Maybe the Somerville banker will be another Cornell...

 And what about LA?

I only wished as I would have thought of this.

Was the cat interviewed?

My Nigerian coworkers think that is crazy too.
