"THE sword." Will defeat the enemy every time it attacks in the form of disease, sin, hatred, or anything evil, anything that desires nothing but our death.

"So God wants us to fight with our family members? " No, he wants us to fight FOR them...against the parasite....against what grips them into doing things that harm themselves and others

"Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth. I have come to bring not peace but the sword. For I have come to set a man 'against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's enemies will be those of his household.'"
So God wants us to fight with our family members? What a jerk. Sounds like God does not wish for us to bear good fruit, but instead become a world of violence and anger. Sorry, but my family must not believe in God at all then. We get along great. You have really shown me the light there. It is not at all a good thing to try and live by the ideas of the Bible.

"charity, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity"
Well since those attributes fit me better than most of the Christians I have known, I am a little confused now. Are you finally saying that my beliefs bear better fruit than the general Christians beliefs?

I never said you created the line, just that you have enjoyed over using it in a way that has not once proven your point.
"And what about everyone else you've come in contact with?"
I do not know about everyone, but I do know for a fact that I have a very positive influence on those I encounter. I get along great with people. I have made a difference in the lives of people I hardly know just by being kind to them.
"Have every one of your actions with every person you've met done the same?"
More or less.
"Have your beliefs cause the world around you, beyond your existence and the existence of your family, to be a better place?"
Yes, my beliefs have caused the world around me outside of my family to be a better place.
"Will the ideals which you've instilled in your children be for them a barricade when they are faced with choices that would cause them pain and suffering if they choose certain paths?"
No, what do you think I am Catholic? I would never force my children to share my views in life if they take another path and I will make sure they know this.
"Is "happiness" in this life really the ultimate goal?"
Yes. If you are not happy in this life then there is no point to it. of course the way to truly be happy is to make sure those around you are happy as well.
"Is your happiness affected by the sorrowful state this world is in right now?"
While the state of the world does pain me at times, I understand that the true way to make the world better is to have a positive outlook and know that things work out. I can not let the negative aspects of life pull me down.
"Have you ever deliberately harmed another person, just for kicks, and does this make you happy?"
Not since I was a child and it never made me happy. I was never even that bad as a child. I would befriend the outcast even though it meant me getting made more fun of.
"Do you believe that anything you do has no affect at all on the world around you?"
Some of the things I do have no affect on the world around me. I really think you mis-phrased that question big time. Now my beliefs seem to have a very positive affect, since people generally like me and I have been thanked for helping people through hard times.
"Are you aware of the health of your own spirit?"
Very much and it is very healthy, thank you for asking. How's yours?
"(These questions are not asked to be "answered.")"
Then why did you make them so easy to answer?

true
once somebody takes up a belief that is contrary to the accepted.
friends and family don't like it.
but the person can be peaceable and while others are at odds with him/her, he/she can still exude peace and love toward the others.
new ideas always come with a price.

And Kooka, you give me credit for a line that I did not make up. It's in the Bible: "..BY THE FRUIT IT BEARS." CHRIST deserves credit for that phrase, not me. I'm ending that bit of misinformation right here, regardless who caused it.

the fruits of the spirit are
among other things,
love
joy
peace
knowing Kooka, I would say that he exhibits these fruits quite well.
everyone else:
check around you -- the people you interact with -- do you have a pretty good relationship void of arguing, and happy, and filled with love one toward another?
you don't have to answer -- ask yourself the question and honestly answer yourself.
Cause if you can't be true to yourself, you can't be honest with anyone else.
