MiaElla ....

Thank you for reading MiaElla. I was a little frustrated writing about it so close to my visit to Dachau. I wrote it rather quickly. I plan to revisit the memory of my visit in more detail later ... I left out so much of my personal feelings because it was very upsetting for me ... I still remember the people that were laughing at the top of there lungs as they clomped through the old shower room where so many human beings were, "disinfected and sterilized" .... I could see how so many young people are so far removed from this recent horror ... I was glad to see there were young people there though in all honesty ....

I left you a rose on your last post because it is sometimes difficult to find the right words ... I think a hug would be more appropriate but the rose will have to do ... My thoughts are with you ...

FactorFiction.....

It was a sad experience but one I really wanted to experience for many years. I am sooo glad I went to Dachau and Nurnberg. I suppose everyone has their way of coping. I mean, I certainly was not there but I have met people that were. I have also met living family members of people who died in Auschwitz. My family history on my fathers side is German and I felt that it was something I had to do...

It is a historical tragedy. And so much past history is tragic i.e. Eugenics, Tuskegee syphilis study in Macon Alabama, and the crisis in Sudan to name a few but I don't think we should forget any of it .... If all the youngsters today don't care to know or learn about it, then I feel this history will sooner or later repeat itself .... I shall digress .. I am becoming rather tangential here ....

At first I thought- how callous and unfeeling-
then when I thought about living nearby...could never do it....never.

Yes I agree with you ... It is a very hisorical place with a lot of sadness ... I can see why he would have said that ...

I can't imagine living near it...
shudder...perhaps that is part of the man's comment. You'd kindof have to learn to block it out to live nearby, don't you think?

Yikes!  Hard to believe the horror could fade, but obviously it can.  Excellent post ~

Well my friend, the witnesses are dissappearing fast, but we have the photo's, the movies even and the written and spoken tales that will help us to never forget it. I have no relatives that were held there in those camps, but my parents were both war teenagers, and they'll never forget the stories they have heard! So I hope, humanity will never forget!

Voyager9940...
I hope you're correct but with the generations that wish to forget (like it never happened), I am afraid history could eventually repeat itself ....

What happened there is yet another very ugly spot on humanity! It's almost sad to hear that some people even try to deny what happened there, and yet, all the proof (you've seeen it!) and the witnesses are very clear about this holocaust! NEVER AGAIN should be posted on top of the entrance of those death camps! Thanks for sharing this, and do take care dear Dark_D, hear you soon!
