Whacky, it is sad but sometimes we don't really take time to appreciate Dad's until they are old and we are taking care of them and we have the time to really remember how important they were to us throughout our lives.

It's really interesting

how some of the simplest things we don't give much thought to are the things that mean the most to people.

Wacky...

I didn't know your dad, but from the sounds of it, he loved you more than you'll ever truly know.  Actually, I hate that past tense...He Loves you more than you'll ever truly know.  By simply being with him, you probably brought him the greatest peace he could have at a time when pain overtook him.

Keep smilning at the memories.  God bless.

I just love re reading your
posts about your dad. It's funny, but I didn't get to attend my father's funeral, nor have I ever visited his grave. That's the way I am about it. I want to remember them as they were in life, not at the end. I may be getting a Basset Hound in the next couple of days. Some people can no longer keep her and if they can't find a home she may wind up at the animal shelter. I talked to them earlier, but just couldn't make the decision at the time, but have decided that it's time I got a new family member, besides my squacking parrot.

The terminally ill appreciate company and request to see their loved ones as they know their time is short.

Beautiful story.
I lost my dad to cancer, and the day before he died, I spent most of the day just sitting there holding his hand. Every once in a while he would talk to me about how glad he was that I was there and we would reminice for a while before he would drift back to sleep. I was an over the road truck driver, so I felt extremely lucky that I was able to be there. I lost my pound puppy a little over a year ago after having been together for 16 years. I keep thinking about getting another, maybe it really is time.
