It shows I think that people are not open to reading others. It may be because they only write and don't read or it might be that they only read people who are seen to read them. It could be shyness by some or it might be that my posts are too boring and that I must conform to headline tactics that are not me

some do, some don't. I try to, but one of the "perils" of popularity is sometimes having more comments than you can keep up with. I may also click and read but not comment, so with an invisible click system, you never really know who is returning clicks and who isn't. Until you build regular readers, there is bound to be a disparity in the number that you read, versus those that read you.

QuirkyAlone, perhaps I didn't respond to each comment there but I did read their posts and commented on some of them.
I can see that I am at odds with the system here that I am expected to respond personally to every comment--that it is an etiquette--and yet that acton is not uniformly observed. what I am saying is that I can visit and comment on 20 people but find that only 0-4 people view my page. I am saying to you that if someone comments on me I do actually go and look at their page but it seems that others do not do that.

MayB,
I wasn't talking about tit for tat either, but rather, answering all of the comments people leave you on your own post. Your last one had a fair number of commenters, but (I think) you only answered a few.

Quirkyalone, I don't like this tit for tat comment thing. It feels like having to solicit readers or then having to tip or reward readers and I imagine that other bloggers are just as busy as me.
On your post I was speaking more about a flow of energy than tit for tat. There have been times when I put energy into commenting on many blogs but it is a lot of energy to give out. Now we have this counter thing it is easy to see that enrgy is best given out in other ways. It doesn't seem much point to write when you might read 30 people, comment on 15 and have no readers - the counter things have been great in confirming what I suspected.

QuirkyAlone, Jeff Gannon was that fake reporter at the WhiteHouse

Mayb,
Who was/is Jeff Gannon? I think you are right about not reaching total comfort level, a slight edge might not be a bad thing. You know, in reference to the comment you left on my post about not getting comments, I think you might get a few more if you (individually)answered each of the ones you do get. We bloggers like attention, ya know. ;-)

If you can indentify what it is you need you are a step ahead of many

I guess after a while, it dawned on me that it was infinitly more important to go after what I needed in my life rather than be a 'sucess'. So far, it seems to be working.

state what you really want and go for it!
I believe that knowing who you really are, what are your pluses and minusuest is the most important thing.  After that, stating new goals, new dimensions to achieve comes easy.

L.E. Gant, the second rule is the hardest one for me.

Basic rule: "fake it until you make it"

Basic rule #2: ask for what you want, and don't settle for less.

I hope to live up to who I am as soon as I figure out who that is.

Reinventing oneself and living up to it is almost a necessity in this world.

I can't possibly do anything but live up to it
