The quality here is growing, and I think $5 per month is fair for reading..

The fact that we pay to write and read increases the energy on blogit as I compare it to two sites where I can blog for free. I think the 'readers only' plan would attract people who want to check this site out. And who knows? There may be 'readers only' out there drawn to this grassroots writing movement called blogging enough to pay the minimum fee just to read!

To read more than an excerpt for free would undermine everything here. What would stop someone from logging out then reading and commenting for free on most blogs, then commenting while logged on to a few favorites to control where there payments go?

Reading should be free for the public, other blogs on the net are free

and many have a lot to offer. By being free it may generate more interest in writers who may want to join. I am sorry but $5 to read some of the junk on here is not worth it.

Readers only fee.

I think $5/month sounds good as well. I could tell my friends that without feeling rediculous.

Fee-wise for readers only, I wondered about the previous fee for Blogit - around $5 per month. When it was that fee, and I talked with potential readers who were not writers, the people I talked with didn't balk at the cost.

Thank you for the suggestion. We have considered it in the past and may consider it again. What do you think readers should be charged for access to all your writing? Of course, readers can read excerpts of each post on everyone's blogs already.
