You are familiar with
Frankenstein, no? The Island of Dr. Moreau? Yeah they all start with the good intention of helping humanity. When one starts meddling with human beings and their genes, who's going to say: "Stop"?

Friar_Tuck, this is horrifying when it is all put together like this.    A case here and there now and then just seems freaky but when all of these are collected into one blog post, it is mind boggling that humans continue to do anything, unrestrained because they want to be God.

Couldn't Agree More

I couldn't agree more.  It's  insane what they're doing now with genetics.  I'm actually completely oppossed to all forms of genetic manipulation.  I think it's just another Eurocentric "take dominion over nature" attitude.  Thanks for writing on it.  Scientists suffer from a lack of perspective.  Most of them are only concerned about whether they CAN do something, not whether they SHOULD.  Look at the history of the Manhattan Project.  And anyone who's doing ethically questionable research just scoffs at the opposition as fear-mongering.  I'm actually in the process of writing a formal article about why it is so unethical, counter-productive, and wrong.  China is a rogue, they'll do anything.  The U.S. isn't far behind.  We evolved out of the same process that created the rest of the species, what gives us the right to alter their genes?  It's sick and twisted and shows no respect for nature whatsoever.  Hubris to say the least.
