Don't worry, the hair is staying. I never liked the way I looked with short hair. I just was not who I am. I plan to keep it long for the rest of my life.

Amen Kooka
It particularly irks me when they tell what to eat and what not to eat.

Kooka Television is good at showing me what I should NOT do.
It is a media that displays samples of the current state of society like you said. What a sad state we are in indeed. There is a publication that I used to read but any more I leave it alone. Through and through-out it are ads telling me how unsightly I am. Tummy tuck, breast lift, unwanted hair, spider veins, cellulite, hair extentions, colored contact lenses, tanning beds... etc... I have always been a person that judges others based on what is inside, and not so much on what is outside. The superficial world leaves me sorrowful.
Please do keep your long hair...It is the greatest thing ever, really! I've ALWAYS loved it!

I have to agree with you on this Kooka
I've never worried about whether my "style"-in clothes, looks or anything else-fit in with everybody else. Who cares? What's wrong with being an individual? I can't stand all those make over, reality shows.
My husband has long hair too (almost as long as mine), he's let it grow every since getting out of the military. He has been refused jobs because he refused to cut his hair. If they are more concerned with his hair length than what kind of a worker he is, I say who needs em!
By the way, I'll miss our "debates" and like I told your Dad, you will remain on my prayer list.

I think that many people watch these shows
to compare how they are living versus the rest of the world. I would never listen to Joan Rivers as her style is not the best to follow anyway. I agree with you that we should be ourselves. Some people just can't help being trend setters though. After all, there is big money in these shows and people are definately viewing them.

people are insecure
and anything that sells them a supposed improvement they will bite at like a fish after a worm
then they're hooked for big bucks
it's exploitation of people's insecurities and trying to make up for them
insecurities drive almost everything people do, even putting other people down.

It's a good question.
Maybe people want to be idolized. Do humans wish to attain god-like status on earth? Interesting blog.
