Interesting pet! I can't even keep a plant alive so there's no way I'm going to get a pet. Lets just say its lucky my son knows how to cook....

MiaElla,
I love pets, but I still lack the commitment factor for that type of relationship. If the opportunity comes for me to up and go, I want to be, more or less, free like the wind.

MiaElla, Nicodemus, huh? Reminds me of the devil himself...
Ever read the "Dictionary of the Khazars'? By Milan Pavic? Great book, great writer...there's a very lovable devil incarnated as an orthodox monk in there...anyway...blah blah...I talk too much...
But I like your cute little rodent...
Don't tell him I called him that...
Oh, here's a fresh fig for you...! LOL

sassy,
I did catch our cat sniffing the rat...I had him in my hand and didn't see her sitting on the top of the sofa...I think she scared me more than the rat because I wasn't sure if she was going to do more than sniff...lol.

How cute!
We have two hamsters and our cat cannot stand it! I know that he would like to have them for lunch, but for some reason he behaves himself.....a little bit.

Play With Him Lots
The answer to keeping rats friendly is to take them out and let them crawl around on you as often as possible. My roommate has a rat that can spend hours spinning circles on top of my head, crawling down every now and again to tickle my ear. Play play play and they'll stay friendly =)

He's really cute!
When our daughters had pet rats, my husband told me they NEVER bite. They didn't bite the girls, but one bit me once. I forgave her, however, because she had babies (ratletts?) and I startled her by sticking my hand in (to leave a carrot) when she was in a darkened room. Otherwise, we never had a problem. Nic looks very sweet.

That's neat! That movie is, in my opinion, one of the greatest animated films ever made. And Nicodemus was hella cool.
