Katie and I were living together before we were married (we were engaged, though) and I do think that it helped us with a lot of things.  If it was a sin to do that even though I know we'll never get divorced in part because of it, well, I'll mail God a letter from my place in hell saying that he needs to rethink his plans.

kooka_lives -- I have seen planned marriages that are to be envied
To say that living together first would solve a lot of marital problems is very true for some people but not all people. Each and every person is different in this regard. There are also a host of other variables as well such as maturity level, cultural or ethnic pressure and personal level of commitment. Then if you do manage to hang together for some time you can only hope that both minds advance and evolve at near or at the same rate. Then if all of this manages to fall into place and align miraculously then you have to deal with all that fate throws at you. Any marriage ranges from "I love you dear" to believing that shooting the bitch is too good for her. You gotta want to make it work as well.

Funny post Kooka

that even Christians have to find a justification for committing sin.  My understanding of the teachings of Jesus is that God abhors sin--any kind, all kinds, every kind--that He does not make alowances for breaking commandments and following after sin.  So, happy Christians can classify their sin(s) by degrees and be judgemental of others who "commit a greater sin" yet ignore that they are also guilty before God and will be judged accordingly.  The sin of greed would top my list. It encompases lust, theft, destroys human life, enslaves the weak and is insatiable (gluttony).  It arises out of envy and jealousy and promotes ungodly pride. Those who embrace it, do so at the expense of the poor, the unfortunate and are devoid of compassion.  We have a whole country that is infected with greed--those who head Corporations, those who assist Corporations in gaining excessive wealth (like our politicians) and those who encourage Corporate greed through being consumers of their "ill gotten gain" by which I mean all of the above.

Thanks for the post--
