If I Lived Back In The Day Of The Elephant Man...

...I just might have fallen in love with him, because he was so sensitive and such a gentleman.

When you fall in love with someone, what society might see as their flaws become something you might love because you associate that with them.

For instance, too much around the middle becomes love handles.

Someone losing his hair leaves a nice, bare spot on which to plant a kiss while talking soothing baby-talk.

My goddaughter, Wendy, used to date a young man with club feet.  In fact, they had a little girl together.

Sadly, he wasn't mature enough (only 16) to keep giving to a mature relationship, so he ended up cheating on her with other people and, eventually, leaving her.

But I remember how Wendy told me that he would mention to her what ugly feet he had, and Wendy would rub lotion on them and tell him that, to her, they were the most beautiful feet in the world!

That's Amore!

Hugs!
AJ

CL,
It would be boring, redundant, and predictable if too many stories had happy endings, ya know? I am refreshed by unpredictable endings. There are a few movies when I wanted a happy ending but was let down. I can't think of them off the top of my head right now, though.

I've always been one for a happy ending, but I don't mind a depressing ending if I can see it coming.  If it's a surprise depressing ending, fuck it, I'll end up hating the movie (or book or whatever).  Bittersweet endings, on the other hand, I can handle.  Like the ending to "Donnie Darko," as fucked up as it was.

You're brilliant and I've always enjoyed the read. Keep it real.... later!

We're the Creators of fiction

But we follow trends. We copy our predecessors. We could change the endings if we wanted. The elephant man could get the girl in our next story. Wanna write that one? Probably wouldnt be a best seller but it might cause a shift in people's views and expectations if enough of us were to do that to our stories.

I like happy endings too and subscribe to the same philosophy as you in this regard. The world is a dark, unpleasant, fucked up place. When I see a movie or read a book, I need it to be like I'd desire if the world were a perfect place to live and everything always went the way it was supposed to.
