Hey Symph,
well I've written a radio play, and some opinion peices. I'm writing a children's book and I am working on a article for a specialty magazine. So far I haven't been paid one red cent for my writing though.

Just got a job editing web copy...Trained as a technical writer.
I worked with the EPA for awhile then quit.  Haven't written so much as a post card for the last eight years or so.  Now I'm starting my own freelance/corporate writing biz.  Nuff said.

SYMPHONY,

Thank you for the kind words.  I consider myself a tinkerer, rather than someone who takes myself too seriously.

I've written all my life
to me it's just like reading, there is something about words that I really enjoy. I've never made a living out of writing though some of my work had been put into print in articles, for various types of magazines and some military manuals. I would some day like to write and illustrate my own book.

If you're interested

Hello, Symphony...

I was so excited by your latest post!  I've done at least four differnt types of writing.  They include non-fiction, Historical fiction, poetry, (though not for several years) and some play writing as well and a few months ago I finished the first draft of my first ever children's book.  There are some very good courses I can recommend for you.  This way, you could do a bit of dabbling and see which area you most enjoy.  If you're interested in some information, please feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to pass it along to you.  Best wishes!

symph,

I am a technical writer by trade. I also write poetry (as you know) and have been featured at Poetry Festivals. I teach poetry workshops for kids. I am contemplating publishing a chapbook of poetry. I am an essayist and love this format. I'm currently working on a novel. My favorite forum at Blogit! is poetry although I do really enjoy my Inspiration Column in "Opinion" as well.   red

sorry for confusing you Symphony, I just enumerated the big moguls who control the media outlets who combined, control most of the resources that make living for writers possible. I just want to create something to poke my dirty little fingers at them.

SYMPHONY,
my writing can only be construed as a hobby.  It is something I enjoy that I have never even thought about getting paid for.

I hope to continue on a couple of books in progress. As for you, I see you
more as a newspaper or magazine columnist.  You have the right feel for column writing, I think. I think you should send feelers to local newspapers and magazines right away.  love scriber
