Majroj, it's in one ear, out the
other for me too. Not much sticks in the middle any more.

Telynor, what a great pet story
I'm surprised that a cat would do that. I've always thought of them as less people oriented than dogs.

I had a siamese cat who would wail just in one particular way when an earthquake would hit. One time, and the first time, that I noticed this behavior, she was pawing my face and screaming -- I sat up to hold and comfort her, a few minutes later we had a little shaker and the clock radio that had been sitting on the shelf above my bed fell smack into the pillow where my head had been. After that, I've always noticed the behavior of my pets.

ginnieb, You've convinced me, I want a
Labradoodle to be our next dog. (don't want to sound callous, but Cassady is getting long in the tooth and nothing lives forever.)

Beachbelle, I think the animals
came out on top in this disaster.

They sure are amazing creatures!
When I worked for the Epilepsy Assoc I was privileged to meet 'seizure dogs' who were trained to manoeuvre people with epilepsy to safety before their seizures even hit...they could 'sense' that a seizure was coming. The dogs I met were Labradoodles...a combo of Lab and standard poodles whose intelligent and insight combined to create a very special dog. There is so much we don't know about animals. Great article!

One hopes the animals sensed it
They are often the fogotten victims of natural disasters
