Kooka, it seems as though
you are in the minority when it comes to writing here on blogit in the religion catagory. You try to provide
rational arguments and most Christians I've met are rabid believers. When you simply believe something is true, you don't have to provide proof.

off the Christians I have met
happen to be just as you describe them
many, anyway.
everyone should maybe go to another church and listen.
listen to people and to ministers, preachers and priests.
you see that they parrot what h as been said for centuries
and without questioning.
what is, is, they say (I've said that too, just a few minutes ago, but in a diffrent context).
they cannot accept departing from the established perception and paradigm.
check out the TV evangelists -- and radio -- they all say the same thing, often without saying anything.
it's all like having a copy machine -- thousands and thousands and millions of copies of the same thing --
it's not experiencing just a few, like your detractor want to believe, but it's a general experience -- if you experience this time after time, then you have to come up with the ocnclusion that you and I have drawn.
they don't think for themselves, they just parrot the line that has come down for centuries.

Janes
You very openly mace a very propaganda based remark about homosexuals. You very openly made several propaganda based remarks about atheist. If Christians would not make such remarks, remarks that are proven to be false, then I would not be able to say such things. You even directed me to obvious propaganda pages in trying to prove your point about homosexuals
I would like to point out that at no point did you provide any proof that I was wrong here. Take my post point by point and prove me wrong. Show me that what I claim is happening is not happening.
All you have done is showed yourself to be emotional about this topic, mostly because there seems to be a truth to it that you will not admit to. you have already shown me that you fall in to the trap of propaganda, misinformation and lies. I have known way too many other Christians who have done the same, several others here on Blogit, and they get very defensive if you ever try to point out that such a thing happen.
Now I have known Christians who thought for themselves. You can tell who they are because they do not repeat the BS that I have the true issue with. They may be told such lies, btu they then go and check them out and learn the truth, not from religious sources, but from the basic information and facts that are out there for all to find if they so desire.
I place in the category of those who believe as they are told because you have several times now spitting out stuff that was not true, but if you do the resource you will find the only source for such ideas is Christian propaganda. If such a place is a source for a lot of your information, then I have to figure that you do not look up facts on issues outside of what you are told, even when it is very clear that such ideas are greatly biased and not telling all the facts.
As I said, prove that I am wrong here and I will be more than man enough to apologize.

Kooky,
Perhaps what irks me the most is that you spew this nonsense as if you are the be all and end all of all knowledge pertaining to Christians and their thinking. Your arrogant presumptions never cease to amaze me, and I wonder just who you think you are to be making these driveling accusations. You accuse Christians of supposedly not being able to think for themselves, and yet you write with such disdainful superciliousness -- as if you don't believe people are capable of thinking for themselves and have to be told what to believe -- preferably by YOU. You talk about all the proof against Christianity -- but you haven't proven anything beyond the fact that you are a master at making arrogant and ignorant extrapolations, assumptions and statements. You meet a few Christians, read a few blogs, and assume you know everything? And this is your idea of being "open minded"? If I were you, I would tone down the disdainful rhetoric. It's tasteless and tiresome.
This is Jane here, signing off, and eagerly getting my Halloween costume ready for October 31, so that I (a devout but apparently ignorant and stupid Christian) can go trick or treating with my much respected gay boss and his atheistic but law abiding significant other.

problem is
when you speak of religion
I don't know about hinduism (interesting pantheon though -- Bhagavid-Gita {sp?} gives some information on that --
I understand that Buddhism might not.
but I do know that much of Christianity believes that it is the only true religion and that salvation only comes through Christianity and through certain acceptances on the believer's part (sort of differs between denominations).
and it appears also that Mohammedanism has basically the same belief. I won't go so far as to say I am certain of this.
But both call those outside their religion, "infidels".
Basically we've got quite a way to go before there is any different thinking on this and if I or you were to say differently, we would get adamant arguments to the contrary.
they believe this with all their hearts.
you understand differently and so do I.
