Registered Nurse

Thanks for the question Jane. Sorry for the delay in replying - l am still finding my way in and out of the site!! I became a registered nurse too many years ago to contemplate and trained in mental health and general nursing. I could work in any areas covered by that terminology. However, things are far more compartmentalised now days and the skills and expertise required in each specialist area are high as l think you will have found? It's good to be versitile, but daunting when you are new to an area. In 2000 l decided to concentrate on mental health and have stuck to that now. Does that answer your questio? If not l'll try again.

Nurses!

Yep, a few. Someone even crosslinked to one of my nursing rants a long while ago through another nursing site.

My "nursing" (per se) experiences date from 1983 to present in civilian life, military life (mostly Air National Guard and no direct combat), and in a large county jail system.

I'm racing for retirement and wish I had never entered the profession, despite many good experiences.

Hi englishwoman

Perhaps you could explain something to me.  You mentioned that you're "registered" to work in certain areas.  How does that work?  I became a registered nurse over 9 years ago and since that time have worked in renal and GYN med surg, surgical ICU and now a basic ICU.  Although I've been through orientation to those different areas, I'm not specifically registered to work in any one of them.  Could you enlighten me??? Thanks!
