Emotional abuse doesn't always have to be loud. Sometimes it is quiet but derogatory or used as a put-down.

I come from an Italian family and yelling was the way
they communicated. When I got married, my husband broke me of that habit. I no longer yell. In fact, when I'm upset I just get quiet and keep to myself. Not sure which is worse.
