Ariala,
maybe you are having some exhilarating flying escapades that pump you up?

posted by Julia. on December 15, 2004 at 11:15 AM | link to this | reply

Quirky, it's very strange, I woke up at 2:45 and didn't get back to sleep
until after 3:30 a.m  Sweet Pea, the gray kitty that sleeps with me, was under my arm and against me with his head on my pillow.  So cute!  He does that every night...but not sure why I've been waking up like that for the last few nights.

hehe. How can you be tired now...did Hobbes keep you up all night? lol.

commented? hahahaha, still tired, I see.

posted by Ariala on December 15, 2004 at 10:38 AM | link to this | reply

Yeah, I think I had a tough day when I left that commented and was tired
on top of it.  "Cease" only made sense at that point!

Ariala,
well it definitely worked, I thought it WAS funny!!

Quirky, no I meant what I said...it was a stab at being funny! hehehehe

IR,
thanks for your lovely comment. Perhaps I can email you the technique.

Alf,
I'm just the opposite, I had less fear when I was younger and didn't contemplate the "what ifs" so much.

Ariala--
did you mean "seize" the day?? If not, then that is really funny and I want to know exactly how one does go about ceasing the day??

Wiley,
I'm working on chartering a boat for a few Blogit friends...you can come with us!

posted by Julia. on December 15, 2004 at 10:22 AM | link to this | reply

sillysoul, lol.
If everyone did it simultaneously, it would be mass chaos!

L.E. Gant,
Thank you for that excellent recommendation--I will check it out.

"Reality leaves a lot to the imagination"
Old Lennon quote - but then the Someday Isles often sound great but they come with the grass that looks greener over the otherside.

Quirky, this post is so apt for me
I live my life on Someday Isle. I dream often, but no matter how hard I try my dreams always seem to slip through my hands as though there were grains of sand passing through a sieve not delicate enough to hold them. My main obstacle is an overwhelming passion: I care so much about something, that I consume myself in the idea of the dream. Sometimes I am able to get the boat off and set sail for a little while, but eventually I set fire to that boat. I burn myself out, and find myself brought back by the currents to Someday Isle.

I have dispensed with the ship now, and I am swimming it. It's hard work but it is the only way I will be able to get anything done. I do not want my dreams to be forever limited to the back of my eyelids.

I am sorry that I will miss your post, and your technique. I would be interested to hear it. But, perhaps I know already.

Your friend,
Patrick

Quirky....

Very true indeed.  I am getting better as I get older though.  Maybe because when you are younder it seems like you have an eternity to get things done.  Good post.

Great post...I struggle with the "someday scenario," but for the most
part I do try to cease the day...(and the night, goodnight!  )

::Floating on a deserted isle:: "Hello? anyone here?"

Good post. I think if most of use where to ever achieve are dreams, the aftermath will be unfathomable. Two things I thing is hard to deal with in human nature, 1. failure and 2. Achieving a goal and plateau after it's been done.

OOPs - forgot to add: maybe someday I'll visit and explore that Someday Isle - it must be nice when one can afford to be there

Another Isle to go with Isle of View and Isle of It and a couple of dozen others - Piers Anthony would love it!

A good book to read is Spencer's "The Present" - it summed up what I'd been living for most of my life. Maybe it will help you too, at least to get out of what Dr Seuss calls "the waiting place" (see Oh! The Places You'll Go).

Quirky - I don't have any trouble getting into the boat but, often
I have trouble staying on course.

SincerityAnna,
thanks for your comment...that is a great attitude to have and I've nothing against the credo "Just Do It." However, I do think that sometimes, it's a bit more involved, things hold us back and we can't get to the doing until we know what those blocks are...it's the same as, for example, telling a person with depression to just "snap out of it,"--they can't do that.

Word.smith,
Yay for you!! I'm building me a new raft to get off the island as well!~

posted by Julia. on December 14, 2004 at 10:19 AM | link to this | reply

quirky...
I like to say it this way..."Why wait till tommorrow to do what can be done today...?" I know it's hard for people to "just do it" but when are people going to realize that it won't get done until they just do it...GREAT POST!!!

Quirky, I believe it's important to know
what I want to achieve. The old black and white helps me tremendously, I'm at that point when I need to make another list - new year a-coming and all. One thing I do know for sure is that I won't be part of the castaways hanging out on 'Someday Isle". = )

Passionflower,
I wish I could just do that...I think that for most people it's not that simple...

posted by Julia. on December 14, 2004 at 9:43 AM | link to this | reply

I was once stuck on Someday Island but I just woke up one day and decided it was time to move on.
