I Have Three New Books In Print!!!

In order to buy and/or sell anything on Cafepress.com, you must first be a member (free!), so please join as referred to by me by clicking on this link:

Click Me!

My store ID is BabyBear1952, in case you lose your way there after you join.

Anyway, once there, look in the section called Bookorabilia.

I have a tribute to my folks called Canada Geese & Honeysuckles, and I've also started a series called Sunday Driver 24/7.

I've completed the introduction, plus I've also done a book called Mayletters 2004.

I believe that you would enjoy all of the books--though you would probably find Mayletters 2004 to be the most unique in its content.

Plan on writing more books there very soon as well as putting out more greeting card choices, etc.  But have been waiting for Mark to be able to fix my computer and get it ready to switch from dial-up to cable-modem, which will make everything a whole lot easier.

Anyway, I think you've got a really neat thing going here with this blog, so keep up the good work!

Kudos!
AJ

I just read the davinci code, and if you haven't read that yet, than get that one. It was really good. You seem to be an avid reader though, so you probably already have read it.

Almost finished reading, "The lovely bones"

Differen't from my usual read ~ an easy read as well. However, I must admit I am enjoying this one a lot!

Keep posting your favs ~ going on another book buying spree this afternoon ...

Talk to you all soon! :)

Thanks maybe ....

This is great .... I am going to put together a list of readings from all the suggestions recommended to me on this post and start my reading. This is actually quite fun! This is creating a really neat assortment of interesting books.

Before leaving for Europe (June 2004), I read, "Love in the time of Cholera", by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, which I found very interesting considering it was not my typical kind of book choice. However, I am very glad I read it ~ very artistically written in my opinion :)

I love historical fiction.  The two most recent that I've read, and I couldn't put either down, where:

1) Memoirs of a Geisha

2) Katherine by Anna Seaton

The first is a newer book, writen by a man, about a young japanize girl and how she becomes a Geisha.  I couldn't believe that a man wrote this book.  I also couldn't believe it wasn't a true story.  It was excellent, and they are making it into a movie right now.

The second book, is very old, and was recommended to me by my grandmother.  It is a love story, however there is MUCH historical value to the novel.  It takes place in Europe during the Plague and the rovolt of the pesants against King Richard.  This novel is based on the true story of Lady Katherine Swineford and the war of the roses.  EXCELLENT.  Hope you get around to reading one.  If you like history that is...

I will post comments for each book I read ~ NO SWEAT!!!

P.S. I am almost finished this teeny tiny read called, "The five people you meet in heaven" by Mitch Albom.

It is not my kind of book but I picked it up anyway ($5.99 Canadian with discount card). It is an easy read that reminds people to live and enjoy. Not a page turner but an okay rainy sunday morning, all alone, curled on sofa read :)

Thanks Gypsy!

I am heading to the crazy mall tonight for X~Mas shopping, stocking stuffer thingys etc. I of course will stop in the bookstore again and try to spy this series you mentioned ;). When I head back to Europe in January, I want to have plenty of good reading :) Looks like I am off to a great start!

Thanks a bunch! (Doesn't this color remind you of orange sherbert? YUMMY!!!)

I sure did Roofpig!

I was in the bookstore and started reading book one of the series and really freaking liked it ~ so I grabbed them all ... lol. I wasn't kidding at all. I really want to read this vacation man and want to read books that other people suggest. It just changes things up a bit.

Sounds Great DD!
Hey another series of books you might want to check out sometime. Gregory Maquire. He wrote "Wicked" about things from the viewpoint of the wicked witch of the west (Dorothy was a murderess and it's not easy being green!) "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" you're getting the picture now! LOL And I just bought "Mirror Mirror" a spin on Snow white. I really like this guy and his books are pretty funny and a great read.

Holy stromboli, you bought the whole Belgariad series??  Wow, you weren't kidding...

Oh, this is excellent!!

I just picked up two books that were recommended (Koontz and Eddings (the entire series)) ~ I really enjoy trying out new reads by otherwise unknown or unread authors. This will be fun! I actually just purchased my new discount card, so I plan on grabbing a fair sized lot of new books this week.  Can't wait to check these books out! Thanks guys :)

I like anything by John Le Carre, on the human condition, life decisions,
and of course anything by Frank Beaumier, writing about sex and life in Detroit.

Dark Dreamer
I tend to read murder mysteries.  They are the only books that can keep my attention for long enough.  I love to read Patricia Cornwell and Mary Higgins Clark.  All of their books are great.

Hi Gypsy!

Thanks for your reply. Ironically enough I had pondered whether to buy the novel you mentioned ( Odd Thomas) just the other day while searching for volume I of S. Kings dark tower series. I knew I should have grabbed it. So far I have two books to purchase so far for the holidays.

Thanks for your input ~ if you have another good read in the next little while drop me a line about it. I will let you know what I think about Odd Thomas once I read it.

Cheers :)

Dark - here's an except of my second novel that I posted a while back:  http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/roofpig132548/202043

As for more detailed explanations, I would have to email you because that's a lot of info!

Thanks ... :)

Cool. You have captured my attention. Eddings will also be added to my shopping bag I am sure. thanks for taking the time to recommend some great brain stimulation.

I just checked out your profile and you mentioned Ho-Tep ... hee hee. Hilarious! I must say that I watched that a few times already.

Oh, as far as, your work ~ I would love to read it! When ??? Tell me more about your novel .... :)

I wish I could suggest one of mine, but alas, they aren't published yet.  ;-)

"Hitch Hiker's Guide" is a total page turner, and you'll be able to finish it in probably a day.  The same goes for "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe" and "Life, the Universe, and Everything" which are the second and third books in the series.  The fourth and fifth ("So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" and "Mostly Harmless") were little less that way, but still worth the read.

Oh, and if you haven't already, do try to read the Harry Potter books.  Those are definitely page turners!  I missed a lot of sleep trying to read them!  ;-)

Oh by all means ....

I have to admit that I have not been reading as much as I usually do as I am a full time medical student but I plan on reading my heart out this X mas break! I will totally grab a book you have suggested. I have a hunch that I may really enjoy this kind of read.

I actually enjoy fantasy a great deal ~ so much so that I am hooked on games such as Everquest and in the past D&D .... Yippy! So which would you recommend as a starter? A book to reel me in? A page turner ~ One that I won't be able to put down until I am physicaly forced or my eyelids succumb ... hee hee hee

Excited to read! I will have to make a dash for the book store this evening ...

Hmmm... so many to choose from!  I read 90% fantasy, so this may be hit or miss.

The Belgariad by David Eddings - actually a series of 5 books (or maybe 6... I read it a while ago).  Eddings is probably (in my opinion) one of the best fantasy authors around.  The dialogue between the characters seriously made me laugh out loud.  And the world he created is so detailed, right down to the inner workings of each culture's government.  HIGHLY suggest.

The Redemption of Althalus by David Eddings - another Eddings book that came out a few years ago.  Very similar to the Belgariad, but a little stranger.  He is really good at creating characters that make you feel emotions tied to.

The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy - famous book, but it surprises me how many people haven't read it.  Comedic sci-fi.  A must-read if you are into things like Monty Python.  Also read the 4 sequels to it.

I should stop, otherwise I'll keep going on and on!

Suggest away!
To be honest, I read everything and anything that I can. I often enjoy reading books/novels others suggest to see where different tastes are hidden. I enjoy everything from a good murder mystery, true crime, sci-fi, far out there and crazy, horrer, medical texts ~ to ~ zen meditation, buddhism, biographies, classics ~ you name it. Give me your top choices and I will give one a read this X-mas.

What do you like reading?  I don't want to suggest something that you wouldn't like.  My tastes are pretty specific, so I know I don't like people suggesting things that I wouldn't normally read!
