- Go to A Christmas in the Desert, What a Show !!
cynthia, I cannot believe that they went out of style. So necessary for
teaching public humiliation and other skills needed for controlling crowds. Too bad that you couldn't see your baby do what you used to do. May you'll get to see your granddaughter entertain the masses.
I'm reading your posts about wars and stuff and haven't had a moment to comment, but shall. When I make plans, the gods spin me around until I'm dizzy and then shout, "Okay, go, go, go!!!"

Reminded me of all the shows
I was in myself. Then it went out of fashion in the school district where I raised my daughter. Too bad.

beachbelle, I am not the originator of that phrase, it was a highschool
friend of my sister at the American School in Guadalajara. She was referring to the Mexican boys who used to say 'piropos' to the girls walking by. Small poems or compliments. She said that they all sounded suave and romantic, but that they were really just horny little tuskers........that elephant image just making us bend over with stomach cramping laughter. It is now a family phrase.
Aren't children's shows just the tops!!??!!!

I was smiling till i read this and then..........................................................
I laughed.
I watched my son's show last week and enjoyed it as much as you did this. We sat in the front row and we could see every little twitch

maj, I'm trying to make up for my shameful youth!!! I am practicing to be
my mother, a family icon, a Pollyanna, a Shirley Temple, a neverending optimist and spreader of hope and good vibes. She will hear a story and say, "That reminds me of a poem," and quote one of the 100 or so that she memorized in her one room school house. They are all old-fashioned, uplifting and just plain appropriate each time. Sigh.....so much to try to live up to.
Each of us cries out her name, "Ba," when anything goes wrong. We run up to her house or call her on the phone and are hugged by her voice and reason and steadfastedness. Darn! I'll never make that mountain top status, but am working on it. She personifies 'comfort' and I try to do that here on Blogit.
What began as a 'fake' (imitating my mom) Abuelita person, became what I had to continue to do here, and it has been good for me, for my character. Maybe part of it is really me and I just can't see it yet.
